Downtown Dothan is growing and flourishing and now it has also a great independent bookstore, and such an attractive one! This place is magic spreading over two stories. Enjoy the beautiful decor, the excellent curated selection of books, journals, cards, and games, and the friendly knowledgeable staff. They will order the book you have in mind and it will show up at the store within a few days. Don’t miss the upstairs on its cozy atmosphere and appeal to kids. You will want to browse around for hours, get lost in a book and find yourself again. I can’t wait for all the workshops and authors’ events to take place there. Shop local and support the ones who dare to dream big.

I travel a lot and I make sure to visit every indie bookstore along the way. I've been to dozens of different stores. This place is quite possibly my favorite! The small town charm, the darling window displays, the cozy atmosphere, the welcoming staff. It's an absolute dream!

Traveling to Dothan was a sporadic but wildly amazing trip all because of this little book store. The friendly staff welcome you, well versed in everything in the store and what to do around town! My husband and I spent a good hour just trying to take in all the beauty of this two story charmer until we finally found a good book to buy. Best believe we will be visiting Dothan’s finest book shop again when we feel the urge to travel again!

A beautiful store that perfectly blends contemporary style with a nostalgic feel. Downtown Books is more than just quaint, it is your local bookstore that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The children's reading area is magical, and the selections on the shelves are diverse and intriguing. You can quite literally find something for everyone at Downtown Books, including that dad in your life who's not at all into books. A must-visit when in Dothan.

On Wednesday Feb 15, 2023 I was asked to read to my grandson’s preschool class on Friday the 17th…. so my idea for a fun book was to read about Mardi Gras now that Dothan has parades & celebrations…. well, finding a physical book about Mardi Gras seemed a lil impossible! The “big national” bookstore had ZERO in stock! I remembered our local store Downtown Bookstore, made a call and spoke with Terri. She told me there was 1 book children’s Mardi Gras book in stock, she even sent a photo and a short video of the book!! I told her I wanted it but that I had to work pass closing time… she said she would hold it for me! The book was a HIT for the kiddos!!! Thank you for helping me make story
time special!!!!

As a someone who considers themselves well traveled, I have been to many independent bookstores as that is always a priority when visiting a new town. This is hands down the best and most beautiful indi bookstore I have ever been to. The staff are so lovely and knowledgeable and I cannot wait to visit again.

Called to order a gift card from my son to his girlfriend. We live in FL and she lives in AL. Downtown books were so helpful in getting this Christmas present mailed out to her without an issue, even though it is not something they do often. Thank you to the helpful staff and making this present a reality even though we are hours apart.

Excellent locally-owned bookstore: great selection of books and the staff are always so nice and helpful. They also have cool events and other non-book and order book related items that are great as well.
If you're going to spend money on books this is a great place to do it.

Support your local bookstores!! This piece of heaven has quickly become my favorite place to visit on a Saturday. They host an adult and teen book club, they have a gorgeous upstairs area for kids, they always have the latest titles, and the list goes on and on. This is the one stop shop for a gift for the bookworm in your life. Love this store, and the owner is the sweetest!

The historical district in downtown Dothan has been transformed into a wonderful destination with parks, museums, restaurants and shops, including Downtown Books. This is a great independent bookstore with a nice selection of progressive reads as well as how-to, inspirational, children's, cooking and other books. It is tastefully decorated and the staff was friendly and engaging without hovering. I'll be back.

The owner of the store told me this store opened in late November. I'm so happy I found this beautiful gem of a bookstore. There is nothing like walking into the smell of newly printed books sitting on the shelves. It's decor is simple and elegant. There are books and artwork from local authors/artists being displayed as well as books on the New York Best Sellers list. There is a section that is dedicated to Christian literature as well. I bought 2 books, several pins, and several notebooks. I look forward to expanding my library with literature from this store.

So happy for our town to have a bookstore that is not a “big-box store!” It’s perfectly located near a coffee shop and local eatery. You will be pleased to find local authors as well as national best-sellers. At the time of this review, DB is relatively new but I can’t wait to see this little shop grow!

I am a book-fanatic & I LOVED visiting this rustic, charming bookstore. Beautiful natural lighting, clean atmosphere and kind, welcoming staff. Downtown Books is a beautiful new addition and little gem in Dothan that I will most definitely visit time and time again.

I can't say enough about this place. My fiance and I love books, and one of our favorite things to do is check out different bookstores in different areas. We both live in Dothan, so when I saw this place open, I knew we had to go immediately. Nestled in the heart of downtown, you walk in, and immediately you are greeted with friendly faces and rustic brick walls with the dark wooden bookshelves filled with all kinds of books. This is just what Dothan needed. I won't give it away, but I suggest you go check it out for yourself. There's something in there for everyone. Well done to the owners. We can't wait to come back.
