We visit Gadsden several times a year from Florida. I read the reviews and guess everyone has different experiences, some that I find are mainly staff negative or higher pricing on merchandise. All I can do is review what we have experienced many times. I would certainly post a review if we experience a unhappy visit as well. That is not the case today. We have 3 dogs, and usually atleast 2 of them need something including grooming. We are enrolled in the loyalty program for all 3 dogs. We live mainly in Florida and have had great service overall. It is nice to experience this in Alabama as well. Super friendly and very caring. Thank you PetCo teams in Florida and Alabama.

Before they up the price and do a “real” cut. None of this was listed or explained. The dog looks exactly the same except his hair is in a topknot with a hair band. Was on speaker when she spoke to manager, manager was friendly but offered no reprieve. We are considering speaking to the bank to file charges for a refund. Same dog goes through cleanings regularly at vet and home. Complete misrepresentation of business practices. If you’ve got money and time to waste for no return, go here. Otherwise find somewhere reputable. We are gonna end up doing battle to get money back

I use this Petco frequently. I decided to try their grooming service because I’ve recently had surgery and have been unable to bathe my dog. I went online to book an appointment. When booking an appointment it asked for your dog’s recent vaccination papers. My dog was due for his shots in August so I logged out and planned to bring him to the vet. Doing so, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for the next afternoon. I got up early the next morning and visited our vet to update his shots. No problem! He needed them anyway and I needed to also have his yearly worm exam so that I could refill his Heart worm/Flea and Tick meds as well. As you recall I said I’d had surgery. So we were off to an early start to give ourselves plenty of time. We had a nice visit to the vet and got all squared away to head to Petco for our grooming session. When I arrived the groomer was working on another pet. I was told she would be with me shortly so I sat down on my stroller that I’m currently using due to the surgery. The first thing the groomer said was, “Did I have vaccination papers?” Yes ma’am, I replied and presented them. She looked at them and said that my dog would not be allowed to be groomed because he had been vaccinated on this day. She immediately told me I’d have to reschedule and went into a long drawn out speech about how he could become ill with fever and so forth and so on. Before I could ask a question she then snaps at me that, “ There is a pop-up box on the computer that told me that.” I simply told her that I did not see one only that he needed his papers at the time of his appointment. It wasn’t the inconvenience that upset me as much as it was the provoking attitude of the associate. She saw I was upset so as I turned to leave she sarcastically and provoking with a fake sing-song tone told me to “Have a nice Thanksgiving!!!!” She seemed agitated when I arrived and I truly feel she just didn’t want to be there nor did she want to be bothered with her grooming job. To be quite honest I’m glad it didn’t work out. The way she took the other dog down off the table and drug him into a holding crate to assist me let me know right away that I didn’t want her handling my senior lab. I will never schedule an appointment there. I don’t usually post unless I have nice things to say. But I’m tired of being treated poorly by people just because they are unhappy with their jobs! I hope this was just an off day for this groomer.

I have bought 5 birds (4 conures and 1 quaker parrot) from the Petco in Gadsden. Bought the Quaker in September 2024. Quaker was very thin , breast bone could be seen. Adopted a kitten. The animal shelter was nice, however the manager of Petco was pretty rude to us.

This place never fails to totally disappoint!

Rude, unprofessional employees that have no idea how to properly care for the animals in there care.

Reptiles are under fed, in subpar habitats. Over crowded and sick looking.

They currently have a Savannah monitor there. A store like this shouldn't have these. What most people dont realize is they do not stay small. These beautiful creatures get up to 78 pounds! Most of the population can not give them the adequate care they need. Not to mention the dietary needs.

The fish are sick, very thin from lack of proper feeding, tanks are dirty.

The bettas.... a lot of them were dying... just bones basically. The thing is with living animals guess what!?! They have to get fed to live.

The Guinea pigs were very over crowded. There were 5 shoved into what I'm guessing is a 20 gallon tank.

Forget trying to get an employee to help you at this store. They act like you're just getting on their nerves and wasting their time. Hello this is your job. But that's assuming you can actually find someone there to help you in the first place.

They need to stop carrying animals at this location. The blonde manager needs to be fired and they need to staff the place with people that actually know about animals.

When I finally got an employee's attention he walked away to get someone else some crickets before I could finish telling him what I needed. I waved at another employee and he waved back and kept walking. I left and went to Pet Supermarket, where I got help as soon as I walked in.

My pet has been going there for a nail trim the last few years. He is in their computer system ...yet, They would not trim his nails because I did not have physical paperwork for his rabies tag that is clearly on his collar... Because "people make them themselves". Good grief !!! I have better things to do! Won't be bringing my business here anymore not even for the water fountain products! I'll get them online!!... Cheaper!!!!
To top that off the last time I had them done the girl cut off the very itsy bitsy tip of his nail. I guess she was scared to trim them.. I left there frustrated. If I could give zero Stars I would !!!!

Not satisfied with the collar I bought for my puppy it has fraded and is falling apart. 9.99 plus tax and I went in to buy a small carrier they said they had for 24.00 no can do 79.00 dollars and then I get told that is a online price. So I caught a bass out of the creek it was my daughter's first fish it lived for 6 months it recently passed away she was really sad so I came here to buy 10 gold fish to replace her Bass the goldfish is no bigger than a nickel the lady asked me how big of a tank that I had I told her a 10 gallon tank and she told me that I had to have a 55 gallon tank for one goldfish she will not sell me none of the bait fish that I wasn't going to use to feed to anything I was going to use them for pets for my daughter she would not sell me these because she said my tank was not big enough for one of the goldfish are you kidding me I will never come here again this is the lady told me that this is how she was trained I think this training program needs to be changed how much money do you lose by doing this and nothing was going to eat my goldfish. It's been one week later I've returned to the store guess what I was treated so well this time I lied like hell I said I had a 5000 gallon fish tank I gave them a sad story they sold me as many damn goldfishes I wanted this time it was wonderful thank you so much I only have a 10 gallon fish tank I figured it out I'll keep coming back and I'll buy whatever I want I'll just lie like hell.. thank you so much sincerely Kendall Charles Barnes.

Okay, so. First time coming to this Petco. And all I have to say is man, it was pack. And I don't mean like packed with a lot of people. I mean, they had so much stuff in the store I. Practically got lost in it. I had so many options. I felt like a kid lost in a candy store for pet supplies.

But once I got my bearing down and I figured out the layout, it wasn't that difficult for me to find what I was looking for. Which was an automatic water dog bowl. And a few other items to go along with it like doggy mouth wash and a few dog treats.

I did have a few questions about the automatic water bowl, and I asked one of the employees about the filters, which I could not find on the back wall. At least the Pacific ones for my bowl. And would you believe it? She told me that they do not sell the filters at their pecco. And we both agreed that that's a bit ridiculous. If you're going to sell the product, you should sell the add-on that goes with it.

Well, she was kind enough to solve my problem with the filters because she has the same water bowl at home for her own dog. And told me where I can order the filters myself Online Or if I wanted To buy them in person which store to go to.

All in all, I do see myself Coming back to this Petco store.

I have purchased several hundred dollars worth of fish and several more hundred in supplies. The fish are all sick. I just recently purchased 20 rummy nose 20 black fin and 24 ghost tetra. Out of 60+ fish I have 3 left. Water is perfect they even tested it. Temp is well within range. These are in a 75 gallon tank so over population isn't the problem. And it takes several weeks to get your refund put back into your account.

Best groom my dog has ever gotten!!! Coming here is definitely out of our way but they do such a great job it's worth it. The staff is awesome and always has time for questions. They are very accommodating to our schedule. We are over the road truckers and typically can't make an appointment until the last minute. They have been AWESOME! Went in to pick up some things for my cats and the girl with the green in her hair was so sweet, helped me find just what I needed. I felt so bad for her though, a group of teenagers were honking the dog toys for all they were worth the whole time I was there. Just laughing and making an awful racket, gave me such a headache can’t imagine how bad it was for the poor cashier.

The ferrets had barley any water and NO food at all. the hamsters/mice and other small animals all had gnats in their cages. the birds had food but their water was extremely dirty. there were kids tapping on the ferrets glass cage and that makes me wonder why isn’t there a “please don’t tap cage” sign. The tiny tiny mouse had pellets literally the size of them. We were testing the dog toys and a worker very rudely screamed at us “STOPPPPPPPPP” after squeezing the dog toys. it was very unprofessional and disrespectful considering that the other workers walked right past us and and said nothing about squeezing the toys. I mentioned to her that the cats literboxes were FULL with poop and they barley had any food. She said that is was illegal for them to feed them or clean the literboxes because the shelter owns them not petco so I understand that but it looks like one of the 2 workers that were just standing around doing absolutely nothing but gossiping would call the shelter and ask them if they were coming to clean the literboxes or feed them. It also looked like the scorpion was dead he was not moving and he was on his back. None of the reptiles had any food and their little water dish was dirty and barley had any water in it. It looks like the lazy workers doing nothing would be cleaning and feeding these animals cages. SHAME on petco. this is pitiful for these animals.

This is everytime I come into that store and I’m not the only person that has said it. Your employees are rude! I’ve had a really hard time at this Petco location. They were hesitant to help me setup a 75 gallon tank. I came back later and clerks averted their eyes when I came towards them asking for help. The clerk also cut me off with questions about fish compatibility to tell me she does not know anything about fish. They don’t want to help you here. Go to Pet Supermarket. Their staff is much friendlier and they want to help hobbyists.

Most couldn't find price. Of course cashier didn't believe me when I said no price listed on shelves until I showed her,but got no apology. Very expensive

Beca was professional, friendly and was very willing to answer my questions during the check-in. Additionally, she did an outstanding job trimming our dogs nails which are dark and can be challenging. She was patient with our dog and was very knowledgeable about her jobs and has years of experience. Her knowledge and experience was evidence. I strongly recommend Beca and will be using her again! Thank you Beca for taking care of our pet!! You are GREAT!

I took my dog here for the first time because his regular groomer was sick. I was able to book an appointment within a few days. I was contacted regularly with reminders and once by the stylist to ensure I was scheduling enough time to complete all the services I had requested. On arrival I was greeted by Breana, the stylist who took care of my dog, she was exceptionally kind and great with my dog, easing my anxiety and making feel comfortable. He was well groomed and looked great! I will definitely use them again.

Polite customer care and great opportunities for savings most every week. There grooming team left my dog feeling like silk. Will be back as long as it's cold and I can't bath my pet in the usual spring creek I do in warmer weather.

All the fish had ick and I couldn’t count all the dead fish in there. Was inhumane and I hope someone steals all their fish

My favorite place to take my dog Sophie. They have very good experience by deshedding bathing and also cleaning teeth eyes ears. She looks so good her coat is white her whole body is looks so clean and refreshed. Thank you Petco

Got some great puppy sweaters! Let me tell you, Etowah County Animal Shelter brings pets for adoption to this location. This is not a puppy mill. You will help a sheltered animal if you adopt from here. Great service.

We scheduled an appointment for grooming today. We got there and presented our dog's vaccination records provided by our vet. The groomer stated because it was handwritten, it could not be accepted. We had taken our dog there for training for 6 weeks prior with the same record with no issues. Their policies are inconsistent and the lady at the counter was rude.
