I just came from this store. Been coming here for over 8 years. The store is gone down hill. It's thilthy and not clean. The restrooms are disgusting. The pastries are always over baked and burned. Not soft and fluffy like when they first opened. The corporate office needs to drop by for a surprise visit to see for themselves. See attached photos. All tables not cleaned. Cake display case dirty. Dirty restrooms. feces on toilet. Trash on floor. Trash can over flowing. I've spent tons of money over the last 8 years and I'm no longer a loyal customer due to the uncleanness of the store. Just imagine what the pastry prep area in the back looks like. Health department needs to come by to make sure coffee machine and prep area are not bacteria farms.

These were actually so delightful and had a really soft and creamy sweetness that was all around delicious

Cream puff: Skip
A follow up to the above, these were absolutely plain and quite inedible. It was a waste of calories not gunna lie and we threw them away

Sea salt oolong: Meh
I got 25% sweetness and usually places seem to add too much. This place, however, seemed to have forgotten to add it entirely lol. It also comes in a sealed container where you use a boba straw and I definitely prefer to drink the sea salt top by sipping on it so that was weird

Never been here before but the staff was friendly and walked me through the covid safe procedures to getting my baked goods. Prices are reasonable and they have indoor and outdoor seating if you can't wait to enjoy your goodies.

Great bakery and coffee/desert shop!! I especially enjoy their salt coffee over ice. It has a really creamy interesting taste you just cant get ar other coffee shops. Their bakery is fresh, as this place gets pretty busy. They also have a full desert menu with lots of cakes and other sugary stuff. Very helpful staff as well

I don't like to single out employees but this time, I feel like it's necessary.
My family and few friends visited the 85C cafe on a busy Saturday evening after coming from New Port Beach.

I went inside with my other older friend to order some coffees and snacks..it was Saturday evening and people were packed.

We selected the snacks we wanted and waited in the line of the cashier.. the lady or a girl in her mid 20's, a very very large female employee was running the transactions through the customers.

I don't discriminate or judge employees based on their color,religion, physical status, size , weight, but ONLY to their customer service quality and friendliness..

It was our turn and my older friend (who does not speak English fluently) told the lady what we wanted... I guess he wanted to use these opportunities to practice English and hopefully learn from the other.

I calmly watched and spectated the whole scene, and although my friend did not use the perfect grammar and English, I was able to understand what he was trying to order.

But I was also spectated the female employee's reaction, while my friend was trying his best to order the correct order.. and I was immediately turned off and upset by the way she was reacting.

She gave a very scolding look and reacted as if she was frustrated why he couldn't speak English well. She also approached at my friend at a very mean, rude manner and told him "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY? WHAT DO YOU WANT?? WHAT???" .....

I mean.. that's really really messed up. I mean.. I came in the states here when I was 10 years old and spoke ZERO English. but most people were patient and friendly enough to wait and help me back then..

But why is this lady scolding on people who can't speak English??

she had some nasty attitude on us and she was shaking her head. I didn't want to argue or cause further issues with her, since I was with my family and church friends.. we were about to head to the church too.. so I stopped my self from getting upset and going at her.. I could've told the manager about her behavior, but i just let it go and and moved on.

Thank God my friend did not understand what was going on.... we moved on and waited for our order, but that nasty female employee kept showing her anger and frustration towards other customers!! I was watching the whole place go down.. it was awkward and uncomfortable, because that Large female employee was having a bad day.. I really felt sad for her and I really hope she gets some personal help..

Just heads up to everyone.. she might go off to anyone, any day.. so just keep in mind and don't get in to an argument.. it's not worth your time and energy! God bless her and let's stay happy people!!
Can't let one person ruin your minute,hour, or day!

Other than that large female, every other employees were okay..

I have to say they have GREAT PASTERIES as well as great service! AND HONEST PEOPLE!!! I lost my wallet there yesterday. I didn t know it was missing until today,and this morning we called and they had it there. I am very grateful to them. THANK YOU!!!! And thank you to whoever found it. Love this pastry shop. I always order a large cold sea salt coffee and a pastry. They used to sell a great cinnamon roll at a very reasonable price but stopped because they said it was seasonal. All the pastries and cakes are excellent and, in my opinion, a step above Paris Bagaguet.

If youve had 85c before, you know exactly how soft and buttery their bread base is. If you havent, give it a try! This location is alright as far as locations go- the inside is not wheelchair accessible, and is actually rather cramped and hard to navigate. However theres seating outside and its a well lit area at night. They seemed understaffed when I visited, but service was quick. Wheelchair accessibility: Hard to access bakery area in a wheelchair, due to dividers in the way. The drink area is easy to access and clear of clutter.

I stopped coming here since 2018 for good reason. I noticed the female asian manager (hope shes not employed there anymore) treated her employees rudely. Witnessed a few times how she talked to her employees with such degradation and disrespect. Just couldnt bear it and never came back out of disgust. I never support businesses that treat their employees poorly. She also talks to customers rudely might I add. Nothing good about the place, was even surprised she was the manager. The food was terrible. Their boba was never fresh when I came in around the afternoon, the pastries were soggy, and the self serve area was absolutely filthy. Just recently came back to see if anything changed, NOPE! Boba still isnt fresh, place was still filthy. Looked like it did when I left and its been 5 years now. The cashier or whoever that was that served me was absolutely horrid in terms of customer service. No greeting, no smile. Looked like she absolutely despised her job. Wouldnt be surprised if the same manager from 5 years ago was still running the place considering she treats her employees like garbage, Id hate working at this place too. Negative stars if I could. Even just giving this place one star feels too generous for me.

85 degrees is the best place for desserts, cakes, and drinks. All items are the right amount of sweet and softness I recently went to try their all NEW strawberry matcha Rating: 10/10 I am very picky about matcha but the strawberry milk really complemented this matcha I would def get it again

2023.4.24 Update: They were closed for awhile for remodeling and just opened not too long ago. Still clean and lots of bread to choose from. Tried Hokkaido cream bun for the first time and it was pretty good but a bit sweet. [Original post in 2022] My fave breads are: Marble taro, premium milk, raisin butter, potato croquettes, and walnut raisin multi grain. Their cakes arent that great though. I tried several cakes and all of the (cake) sheets were a bit on the dry side.

I always go here to try out their seasonal drinks! The bakery section is always good and well-stocked (with a full selection on the weekends and a little less on the weekdays). Full indoor seating is still not allowed but theres plenty of dining room outside.

I love the bread Brioche is just love in a loaf . My absolute forever crave SEA SALT CARAMEL COFFEE . If you like tea my favorite is the passion fruit green tea. I will definitely recommend! This place is so delicious! The staff is so nice and enjoyable, that I just love coming back! Best of all there is outdoors seating area and indoor.
