I arrived at 4:30 pm and was told my donations were limited to only 2 boxes or bags. The employee said it has been that way since the pandemic. They refused to take any thing else and I had some brand new never used stuff. I think this donation limit should be indicated on their website and when you call as I did both before making the drive there.

Arrived at 5:45 to drop off my donations before closing (6pm today) and was told that donations stop an hour before the store closes.
However, both the website and the sign in the store window say the donation hours are the same as the store hours.
Needless to say this is very disappointing and frustrating considering I had planned my day around what the online information is. This is the closest donation center to me but is a 20 minute drive from my home so it isn’t easy or convenient for me to come just anytime.
If donations do actually stop an hour before closing, that needs to be reflected on both the website and the store sign.
There were several other people here at the same time as me with donations but turned away.
The staff was friendly at least.

Definitely recommend this Salvation Army thrift store! I brought my mom to donate some of her things for the first time. Gilbert very helpful and kind enough to explain how donating works. He spoke Spanish as well which made my mom feel more comfortable and made her experience donating even better :) Will be coming back here for sure !

General customer service at this Salvation Army shop is a hit/miss. Sometimes it's good and other times bad. Merchandise tends to be put out dirty/dusty, I imagine they receive it this way. So I assume they don't bother to clean the products they get donated. But my main problem is with the donation process. This location literally picks and choses what you have to donate. They don't simply take your items. The reps goes through what you have and takes what they want and leaves you with the rest. I regularly donate to establishments like this, and I was complete surprised by this. No other donation place does that. And after they take what you donate, they do not give you a tax receipt or say "thank you". I've donated three times here. And I did this just to test them. And all instances ended with the same results. During my last donation attempt I asked for a Tax receipt and the rep told me they don't have any to give. I'm not coming back. Also the parking lot here is very small, tight, limited and potentially dangerous.

First time donating personally and this location went above and beyond what I expected. I usually dont leave reviews but the staff on hand was extremely kind and took care of my items that I was bringing in to donate. I asked for a tax reciept being my first time donating and they walked me through what needed to be filled out and what to do with it on my side. They helped me carry my items over to the proper donation cart and were very clear on explaining why they didnt take some of my items, which is understandable. I decided to take a look inside their store out of curiosity and the inside was very well organized and tons of neat items. The managers on site were busy yet I got greeted with a warm welcome and felt taken care of. Anytime I donate in the future Im for sure choosing this location. Bonus points on finding a cool vintage Star Wars tee and some nice condition Adidas!

I am surprised by the amount of reviews on here complaining about customer service or inventory or not having their glass wrapped in newspaper, this is not Macy's is a thrift store. I personally love this Salvation Army, the employees are friendly and helpful, especially Joey, but they are all good people. There is a great selection of clothing for both men and women. Electronics, shoes, and miscellaneous treasures. I have found some great buys at this location. The parking is good for at least 15 cars. Overall there is always something good here, I bought a couple of patio chairs brand new for 35.00 each, because I google them while at the store and they sold for $265.00 a pair elsewhere. By the way you can get a regular Tshirt here for $2.99 versus $5.99 for a used up Tshirt at Goodwill which is ridiculously overpriced.

I've been to this location quite a few times over the span of a two years and I never seem to find anything worth the price. I'm disappointed every single time I come in here. I guess that goes to show the quality of donors? It would be nice of the employees sorting through the pile of incoming merchandise to do a better job of discarding the clothing with holes, oil spills, and rips. Over all, the employees always are in high spirits and helpful when necessary which creates a nice shopping ambiance. I would just like to see a better selection of clothing.

I used to come here all the time. Thought I'd go back. I noped out of there after 5 min. They had noone to help or even greet. The clothes is by signs. 7.99 for womens pants, no matter the quality. More junky stuff in the knickknacks. Was sadly disappointed. Will never return.

Out of all the thrift stores i hit up again after a decade of being gone, this one has fallen down the hardest. Truly a former shell of what it used to be. Just close it already. Especially considering the one in Norwalk was axed many moons ago and is now a stupid mattress store. All the fun things in my life are slowly disappearing.....

I never leave reviews but the cashier named Janet was really rude. I purchased a vase and I politely asked her if they had anything to wrap it such as newspaper. She rolled her eyes and decided to wrap it in a doggy pad. Didn’t even put the vase in the bag, just left it there on the counter. Never coming back lol.

This is the third time we have been here to the Downey location and it will be the last!
my husband had a truck load of good stuff out of our garage and the P.O.S worker that was taking the donations wasn’t going take our donations b/c we had to much to unload. It wasn’t until my husband said he would unload and unpack everything that we could donate our things.
I would recommend donating to a church or goodwill where they really need it. Apparently Salvation Army doesn’t need the donation at least this location doesn’t want them.

Ok so this is the last time I shop here! One of the employees was extremely rude to another customer and even had the audacity to talk about said customer after he left the store. She was very loud that the other customers looked up when she was talking. She was even flirting with an employee and had no shame. The reason I left and didn't purchase anything was she kept saying "hell naw" loud and I didn't need my child hearing that while shopping. I thought this was a christian based store?!?!?!?!? And the prices were ridiculously overpriced for thrift store items also.

Worse experience ever!!!! I stopped by with my grandmother and there was a purse behind the counter Alon with other courses that were for sale and I asked about that specific purse and the cashier tells me that it's been paid for. I ask her how if it was still behind the counter. She tells me because the customer is still shopping. I tell her well then the customer can hold ge purse if she wants it. Ive been to this specific store before and I know you're not allowed to hold anything it's all on a first come first serve basis. She ignores another paying customer. Very unprofessional. I have my wallet in my hand ready to pay and she refused to sell me the item. I ask to speak to the manager and she informs me she's the manager. I will not be returning to this store. She was disrespectful and rude and I wasnt the only customer that was not satisfied with the service on top of the store being covered with boxes of items that still need to be organized it was very messy and disorganized

Great selection, it's the thrill of the find. Lots of great hidden treasures. Things are always on sale so you can't go by the sticker price just ask one of the friendly workers like Teresa. She's great about making a fair deal. Also people rating on here complaining about the prices when they get it for free, yes they do but are you ignorant people aware of where the money goes that they make? It goes back into the community for services and help the needy and less fortunate. They are much better and nicer items then the GW here. I appreciate the workers and what they do. Thank you!
