The 5vstars are mostly for the young Lady at the register who greeted me as I walked in. She also helped me find the items I was looking for by not just pointing the direction, but also walked me to. I was able to redeem the daily coupon for the items I bought and saved me a bunch of money. She was friendly, welcoming, and professional.excellent customer service!

Great service. Went there to look for punching bag and check pricing out.
Well we left with a 70lb heavy bag combo set with a stand.
The bag combo came with
70lb Heavy bag black/green
Gloves black/green
Wraps 108” wraps with thumb loops
And a mount to install on the rafters of the garage/house.
We bought the 100lb heavy bag stand and its a great fit
The whole thing took about 1hr to assemble and put up was taller then I thought had to rearrange the room (roof is slanted)
EMPLOYEE WAS GREAT
They loaded the car up with the 2 boxes and was a great experience.

I don't get to say this a lot these days, but very polite people (younger guy who helped me get some wrestling shoes that actually fit my strange feet), same for the manager and the cashier lady. Had a nice experience and didn't even know until now we had such a store close to home. I'll definitely be back when I need some shoes. Btw: i bought something from Food Maxx and they gave me a 10$ off 50$ or more at Big 5.

AVOID AT ALL COST. No one wants to shop at big 5 especially when there are so many other better options for sporting goods. However this location specifically will never get any of my money. No hospitality or respect from any of the employees working especially the scum of the earth one who made sure to NOT make me feel welcomed at all. Scolding a customer for coming in a half hour before close as soon as they walk through the door is NEVER okay. I don’t care what type of establishment. You must’ve thought I was just some passive person who will take your trash treatment but you thought wrong. I’m reporting my incident with Big 5 HR. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable behavior. I don’t know where you get these employees from, must be the tweaks that hang outside and around the parking lot. LETS NOT FORGET TO MENTION THIS IS IN NORTH HIGHLANDS, you’re going to mess with the wrong person one day and it’s PHYSICALLY will put you in your place. Hope you run into that person soon :)

I needed a specific insole and called and the girl was very helpful! They put it off to the side for me and I came in and purchased. Both of staff were very friendly.

The workers here are so nice and will try to help as much as they can. They also have good discounts on certain items and the items are very nice quality in my opinion.

I just have to say its so nice to have customer service beyond your expectations! The young man in the shoe department is amazing. I unknowingly walked in 15 minutes before close. I was told by the young lady as I walked in they were going to be closing soon but I was hoping I would be able to make a quick exchange for my sons shoes, but they didn't have the size we needed. Louis Jackson in the shoe department, graciously took his time grabbing all the shoes styles in my sons shoe size so he could pick from what was available. He must have grabbed 10 pairs, as I urged my son to hurry and try shoes on Louis told me not to worry about the time but to take the time we needed. He was extremely patient and helpful, Big 5 is lucky to have him good customer service seems to be hard to find these days!

Great staff typically though they are understaffed and close earlier than the business hours posted due to it, and they have no way of knowing what will be ordered supposedly all inventory is random which sounds like an excuse but oh well the store is cool though

I went here to check out the fishing department I found a nice rod and reel for about 50 bucks I also went to check out the shoes and found some great deals the store was neat and organized the staff was very friendly plenty of things to choose from no matter what your sport is...

It's still the same jam and jam of clothes some aisle cannot be walked through or around. Not safe for wheel chair. shoe prices went up but good quality and lot of sales no more sales paper you got to access it from online

On my visit there I went in looking for information on a gun I purchased and to buy magazines and ammo for it. When I walked up to the gun counter there was a young man talking to another customer and the young man was very helpful and familiar with firearms. After about 5 minutes or so they finished their discussion. I had been standing at the counter the whole time looking at the guns in the case. When the young man finished with his customer he came out from behind the counter and they walked away to the front register. The young man did not make eye contact with me, he did not acknowledge me as a customer, he did not say excuse me I will be right back, he did not say someone will be back to help you shortly, he did not indicate that he had even noticed me even though I had stood within 5-10 feet for at least 5 minutes or more.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt that he and that customer had some business to finalize at the front register, I stayed at the gun counter for almost 10 minutes. I did find the items that I wanted to purchase hanging on the wall behind the gun counter. So I waited for what I assumed was going to be that same knowledgeable young man to return to help me. He did not. A young lady came to help me who was not at all familiar with the guns, their accessories, and seemed very timid when I asked questions. She told me they did not carry one of the accessory items I was looking for because they did not carry that type of gun. I had to point out for her the item was hanging on the wall behind her. She had to read the ammo packages when I asked questions about the different types and shapes. And then still could not answer my questions. She stated that the person who usually takes care of the guns has left for the day. Fair enough. I asked her if that was the young man who had just left the counter with the previous customer, and she said yes. Then I asked her why he left the counter and did not acknowledge me? She said he probably didn't notice me standing there. And has left for the day. So now I can only assume that that young man had helped that previous customer up until the end of his shift. And instead of acknowledging me as a customer he wanted to go home, so he just left.

My gun accessories purchase was going to be about $25. I had also planned on making some purchases from the fishing section. After being ignored by that young man I felt I'd rather not give this store my business.

When I passed by the register area there were three young men, employees standing there talking. One was sitting on the counter, another what sitting on a counter with his foot up next to a register. I mentioned that I was going to make a purchase at the store but after being ignored by the young man from the gun counter I decided not to make my purchase. One of the young man responded with "Okay, have a nice day" in a town that made me feel that my statement was not appreciated. No apologies nothing. They could have cared less that a potential purchase was walking out the door because of lack of customer service.

I used to buy most of my fishing lures and accessories at this store but after this experience I will be going to the bait shop at Rio Linda Blvd and 16th Street. I will go to Bass pro shop for my ammo and firearm accessories in the future.

Both of the employees are disrespectful, hours of operation online says opens at 9 AM. There were multiple people outside, they did not open the door to tell us that they change their hours or anything. It was 9:40 AM

They just said we open at 10 AM, it’s very easy to change the hours of operation on Google

The gentleman in the shoe department this afternoon was so helpful. My grandson needed new shoes and he has flat wide feet. Grandson wanted a narrow shoe, I tried something else but the shoe department gentleman knew exactly what he needed. They fit perfectly, they were light and he wanted a running type shoe. It's been a long time since I've been to a shoe section and actually had someone knowledgeable, polite and truly doing their job.

It is a smaller store. They carry a little bit of everything, and are pretty good about stocking up based on current seasons of sports being played by youth. The shoe salesman we had to help us pick out my son's hiking boots was super nice and very helpful. Store though is sometimes kind of cluttered feeling and low on hunting type gear.
