Great breakfast spot, honestly can’t go wrong with anything here but I especially love the breakfast sandwich (which I don’t know if they have it on their menu now since they moved locations in SM), their breakfast tacos, and their big classic breakfast with pancakes. Pro tip, ask to sub the bacon in the breakfast tacos with chorizo 😋😋 one observation I’ve had is that the side of fruit is hit or miss, sometimes it’s perfectly fresh and other times it’s wet and soggy. Doesn’t ruin the rest of the meal though!

I really wanted to like this place as it’s so close to where we live. Came for happy hour, which is from 3pm-6pm everyday. We got the tuna tartare, crab cake, mac and cheese bites and portobello fries as well as the raspberry lemon drop martini and a spicy margarita.

We enjoyed the portobello fries and the tartar sauce that comes with the fries and the crab cake is amazing. The rest wasn’t great. The Mac and cheese was cold and the batter it’s dipped into wasn’t fully cooked and didn’t taste like much, the crab cake was also bland. The tuna tartar wasn’t cold and that was off putting. The drinks were ok, my raspberry lemon drop had a salt rim and not a sugar rim and it wasn’t very pleasant. The spicy margarita was great. Also, apparently they don’t have their liquor license so all the vodka, tequila and whiskey is mixed with soju..which we didn’t know until we were leaving since it doesn’t say that anywhere on their menus, which it should.

I’ll give this place another try with their other menus as I’ve heard their breakfast is good. Hoping they can fix these issues and be more transparent on the mixing of soju in with their liquors.

Charming, local restaurant recently relocated from Montana Ave, that features a "Chris Style" Chicken & Waffles that has jalapeño baked into the waffles that are covered with seasonal fruit. Marmalade also has some fresh and tasty baked in-house cookies and scones.

Really poor place. Had only 2 staff working (1 waiter, 1 chef) so the wait was very long - that said, they did a good job considering the pressure they must have been under.

The food was massively underwhelming. No taste at all to the salmon or florentine benedict dishes. Side of fruit had some mold on it.

My friends and i got the lamb burger and they had no seasoning on it at all.

But although it might've been a one off thing... 4/8 of us got a stomach virus after eating here. Called the staff to inform them and they didn't seem to be pretty concerned about it tbh 😅

Very embarrassing! Unacceptable! My friend and I went there today for breakfast. We were sat and waited and waited and waited for anyone to come and serve us. The servers looks at us but keep passing us. We sat there for at least 30min and no one even offered for a water. Finally, the manager noticed that we have been there for long time with no one to serve us. She asked us if we were helped. We said no and she took our order. What made me upset is that the fact they weren't even busy at all. As soon as another white families sat, the servers of course went to them and served them. May be the servers thought we were going to tip them, but it was an embarrassing situation I've ever been to. I see the servers going up and down. They saw us from the moment we were sat. All of them avoided us. I had to cancel the order and leave. If you don't want a certain type of people to come to your restaurant, say so! I won't waste my time. Never again at your place. Never felt such humiliation at any restaurant.

I was excited to try this place because of the good review. I ordered on DoorDash, i ordered the crab Benedict in which the egg was not runny. The slowest service. Took 20 mins for someone to come by to ask us for our drinks and by then we already knew what we wanted to eat. We had 4 different servers throughout our meal (which took 2 hrs because of how slow they tended to us) and they kept forgetting about us. Between asking for our check and getting our recipets, it was about 35mins. We had to flag down another server to come take our cards to pay for the food. It wasn't even busy, half the tables were empty. The food itself was pretty decent, but I definitely don't plan to come back.

My family and I stopped for breakfast after passing by and seeing it. We had a party of 6 and we were nicely accommodated. They were fast at taking our drink order and food order. Highly recommend getting the iced chai. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful giving us recommendations and alternatives to some of our restrictions. Food was good, and the corned beef hash was a definite winner.

Super cute vibe, friendly staff, with fantastic food!
Everything was so good! My sister loved the pineapple upside pancakes and said they were worth the wait (about 20 minutes).
The regular buttermilk pancakes were thick and fluffy and flavorful, cooked perfectly!
Chai Latte was the best one I've had all vacation.

They closed there old place and they moved 3 minutes away and when we got there it took 10 minutes to be seated but we didn’t know and no one said anything. We used to go every week on the weekends to their old place but now we are not going anymore.Eventually when we were seated we were seated by a bus boy and he smelled like alcohol, what I think is that if u guys are going to open in a bigger place u should hire more people. We were just sitting there waiting for a waiter to take our order n no one came at all. We were there for 25 mins. They took a lot of good food off the menu . They took my favorite sandwich off the menu. I have a lot of good things to say but this new location and new servers isn’t it .We are not coming back. We didn’t even get to eat anything.The only thing we had was coffee and orange juice

Our first full day in Santa Monica and we visited Marmalade for brunch as it is steps from where we’re staying - and we’re so glad we did! From the moment we arrived and were greeted by our waiter; Lucas, we could just tell it was going to be a great experience. They're a newly opened restaurant between 5th and 6th on Santa Monica Blvd. Fantastic manager and an outstanding staff make it the place to try. They moved from Montana St to Santa Monica Blvd and even have a better customer service than before. Food is very good. Come give them a try. I had a double burger for lunch with fries and ice tea. Best lunch in town.

Got the steak sandwhich and apricot scone. 10/10 food and 11/10 service. Food is obviously very fresh and high quality...but the service...it's been 2 days and I can't remember if her name was Vicky or Nicky but holy cow is she amazing. If I lived in LA I would def come back to this place, but because of her, I would've come back every day! Whatever they are paying her, DOUBLE IT!

The restaurant was completely disorganized. Things like a toasted bagel and coffee took 30 mins, I ordered a lox plate - got the lox almost immediately but had to ask several times for the bagel, as if they didn’t realize I was missing it. We ordered two single pancakes, they came out on one plate. I totally understand getting behind on orders during a busy time. But the fact that everything came out out of order and the onus was on us to keep chasing the staff for missing items was kind of ridiculous. The worst part was, this wasn’t just our experience, most customers seemed to be equally as frustrated. Hopefully this was a fluke and not the standard.

I love marmalade cafe especially their grilled chicken salad with oats and apricots. If you are looking for a cafe with a European vibe that has amazing food this is the place. They also do fresh baked goods and have outdoor seating. I would highly recommend checking out Marmalade Cafe and will definitely be coming back.

This is a cappuccino? Served in a tall mug with two inches of steamed milk on top. Couldn’t sip the espresso without getting a nose full of foam. (Also arrived at least five minutes after the food.) Expected something better.

Great location, I was told by staff this is the original starting point of Marmalade. ❤️❤️❤️. It's nice and cozy, lots of goodies on display. I enjoyed a warm Oat Bran Mixed Berries muffin. It was amazing. This location has a different menu then other locations I've been too. The seating is not meant for large groups, more like individual seating. Awesome staff, thanks again for a great experience.

Awesome place. Now that I've tried every breakfast place along the tony section of Montana I can tell you that most of them have issues. But this one is a standout joint. Service is awesome. Kitchen works their heinies off. Food comes out hot. Amazing to go menu. Good attitude. Gotta love this place.

Very casual eatery. It's a coffee place, a deli, and restaurant! We walked in on a Saturday morning, stood in line, placed our order and paid. We found a table inside although there are a few tables out from on Montana Ave.

I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich with their potatoes. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict with potatoes. We both ordered coffee, which they brought to the table in paper cups.

I took half my breakfast sandwich home . The To Go containers are round foil (recyclable) with a plastic clear top (not recyclable).

Service was friendly and efficient.

Plenty of seating inside and outside.
Large menu with offering for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not too busy inside though many customers coming in to grab quick coffees and to-go items.
All of the staff are extremely nice and even recommend more than one menu item when asked.
If even walking down Montana Ave. try to stop in!

Great place if you can't decide between breakfast, brunch or lunch! The breakfasts are delicious. Make your own omelettes, pancakes, etc. I had the three salad plate and they had about 20 choices, some with meat or fish and more with no protein. The beet salad, pasta salad with eggplant and the brussel sprouts with a soft cheese were delicious! Friendly service, inside or sidewalk seating. Amazing food!

Would have given 5 stars but the tables are really tiny, made it difficult to enjoy our meal. Would have been perfect if I was by myself. And the other reason for the star reduction is that the even though what they brought me was delicious, it wasnt actually what I had ordered. LOL!
But the staff was very friendly and the quality of the food was as superb (as always!)

This place is terrible.
Will not serve you without vaccine card even outside.

Boycott this location. I. Vaccinated and had my card. If it wasn't with someone I would have made it clear they had lost my business for good.

Great service and excellent food! The tri tip is BOMB 💣 got the burrito and it was super full of tri tip, they don’t skimp!

And if you don’t finish the whole thing, life hack: add it to some veggies and eggs for a solid scramble the next day. Bell peppers, red onion, zucchini, mushrooms 💫

Very good brunch (got the chorizo eggs benny) and the service was good as well. Coffee was less good but the food made up for it.

The chipotle chicken tacos are absolutely wonderful.

Avacado Toast 🥑 was great, the perfect amount of food. Hadn't had oatcakes before, they were a different consistency than pancakes - a bit lighter but yummy. The standout was the fantastic fresh JUICE.

They should be ashamed of themselves. When Breakfast by Salt's Cure opened two doors down, suddenly Marmalade Cafe started serving oatmeal pancakes which is what Breakfast specializes in. With Marmalades full menu, why do they feel a need to try to take away business from a new neighbor? Really disappointing! And by the way, Breakfast still has a way better oatmeal griddle cake ... Way better

This place has great food. The soup/salad combo M-F 3-5 is a steal. You basically get the salad for free. The staff is very friendly as well.
