Food here actually leaves you feeling satisfied and just good! Very well balanced plates with farm fresh veggies, yummy cheeses, and interesting things like caper berries! The male servers are very kind! The wine is good, they have live music during the evenings. I brag about this place to everyone it’s a must go once a week type place at least and a very special place to work take a friend/ family member and go treat yourself to something actually good. Def a Main Street gem! Highly appreciate the whole entire feel of this place<3

Almost every Sunday, my friends and I enjoy brunch at this amazing place, and we have no desire to look elsewhere because we love it so much!
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the dishes are delicious with high-quality ingredients. A special shoutout to the chef for the arugula salad that accompanies almost every meal—it's fantastic (personally for me)! The service is incredibly friendly, especially from Lana and Fabrizio, who always go beyond to meet our requests with care and kindness.
We’ve been coming here regularly and plan to keep coming every Sunday! That truly speaks for itself!

I e been here half a dozen times and can’t believe I haven’t written a review. Today I was there with my daughter for a late brunch. We had the avocado toast and their signature French toast. My daughter had the avocado toast and loved it. I was going to try and be healthy but got talked into the signature French toast and although my scale may not like it tomorrow, my belly loves it today! It was AMAZING! We were dining outside and people who walked by also commented on how yummy it looked! Great suggestion from our server…who’s name I can’t remember BUT I know he can carry a tune because I’ve heard him sing so I’m sure the restaurant will know exactly who I’m talking about. BTW, every last person who I’ve run into working there has been soooo nice. The whole team is super friendly. Obviously I’ll be back cuz I’ve been there several times before. Definitely check it out next time you’re near here!

Shakshouka was tasty but so salty that it's not edible.. I tried hard but no, it's impossible to finish that dish. I left the half and our waitress gave me a 10% discount. You need to wait quite a time for her too, although there were just 2 tables occupied in the patio, including us.
And no, thank you, there are so many other places!

Amazing brunch spot, love the people and the food. Sometimes things change on the plating from visit to visit, which can throw you off if you're expecting say the same specific cheese topping etc. Also be mindful of the shady parking lot next door, may or may not charge you to park, and apparently not part of the building?

Ok this place has amazing food!! Their portion sizes are excellent and everything is super fresh organic and farm-to-table. They use this amazing seeded bread from a nearby bakery and local pasture-raised eggs that are bright orange.
Go for the Niçoise salad for a tasty classic.
Also the avocado mousse dessert is a great gluten-free option and to die for! The outside seating is lovely. A great lunch spot for sure.

Absolutely terrible experience. Was visiting LA from out of town and decided to give this place a shot while I was in Santa Monica, but ended up leaving both extremely disappointed and hungry. We arrived at about 6:40 pm on a Saturday evening and the entire place was completely empty which was the first red flag. Since it was just the two of us, we placed our orders shortly after we entered the restaurant (one minestrone soup, one tomato burrata and one fettuccini pasta). Even though these were all are relatively easy and small dishes to make, we ended up waiting for almost an hour to get just our appetizers (one soup and one tomato burrata) even though the entire restaurant was completely empty. Not sure how it’s possible but my pasta took more than an hour for them to prepare even though I followed up twice with the waiter on this order and each time he assured me “that they’re preparing it”. I could not wait any longer and asked for them to box it up once they finished it while they bring me the bill, I ended up paying the entire bill plus 18% gratuity simply out of good faith and they had the audacity to not even bring out my pasta which I asked them to box up since I had to leave and could not wait any longer. They basically over charged me for food that I never even ate while lying to my face saying that “my order was almost done” when in reality it wasn’t even close to finishing. Instead of rectifying the issue and removing the pasta from my bill (which they never even brought out), they were being greedy and made a big deal out of it, instead of arguing I just paid it and left. Please avoid this place, their food is mediocre and their service is even worse. It ended up being a complete waste of money and a waste of time. Will never be coming here again.

This place is exciting, chill, the music can feel loud but it's an awesome playlist. The food is fantastic and special detail paid attention to every plate. The whole staff seemed to speak half-a-dozen languages all at the same time as they whip around the place and make magic happen with great service and food. I think they were in the zone and I feel like we struck gold. I don't want anyone to know about this place because it was so good.

My partner and I have come to Papille Gustative a number of times the past 2 years. We’ve noticed there’s been a bit of a decline in level of service, and today we were really disappointed with our experience.
For starters, I’ve noticed that my order of the brunch plate has been missing the other, shaved cheese, that it normally comes with the past 2 times I’ve ordered it. Not a huge deal, but definitely disappointing as it happening twice seems to show them cutting corners…
Now onto our experience overall. My partner ordered the filet mignon and eggs. Our server forgot to put our order in. No problem, we’re not in a rush. We ordered 2 glasses of champagne while we waited which they comped.
Once our food did arrive, the orange juice I ordered with my food didn’t arrive, the eggs my partner ordered were sunny side up but came scrambled, and the steak he ordered (medium rare) was inedible. It was completely rare. He was about half way done and brought this to our server’s attention. He apologized for the eggs and offered to bring out new eggs but then proceeded to argue with us that the steak looked medium rare to him and that he wasn’t going to argue with us…after flipping the steak upside down, it was clear that there was almost no browning on the bottoms. We asked for the steak to be replaced, which he did. But the pushback just made things really uncomfortable.
Lastly, immediately as soon as I arrived back to the table from the restroom while my partner paid, the host had approached our table to tell us there are upcoming reservations. Which would be otherwise fine, but our overstay was not by choice.
When we brought our mishaps to the host’s attention because at that point we were pretty fed up. She said she was sorry but that it’s Sunday and (in other words) it’s kind of to be expected, and asked us if we had pictures of the food. Frankly, I understand the accessibility but it’s a steak, not a car accident. We weren’t asking for the meal to be comped. We were just disappointed and wished unhappy customers could be met with the will to make things right.

Fresh novel fruits and vegetables straight from the farmers markets really make a very good food that much better. I love the goose eggs Benedict, which comes with a plate full of special pickled and fresh vegetables that really set off the over all flavor in each bite. Highly recommend this brunch and also jazz nights are really fun and a welcome fusion of music and cuisine.

I went here the other day for lunch, tried their waffle (16 USD - quite reasonably priced, picture included) and affogato, both fantastic. Great staff as well, including one guy who I think was new and was still learning. I wish him the best. 10/10 experience.
Went back again tonight for the jazz night and I think the restaurant was overworked, the main meal took 90 minutes to get out to us (they might have forgotten about it. Not super sure.) Had the truffle fettuccini, it was nice but the 34 USD (not including tip/tax) pricetag was, I feel, a bit high.
To their credit they did an offer on-the-house drink and bread (with some delicious butter) to make up for the wait, but I would have rather had the meal faster. Had to ultimately ditch the dessert option and head back home, which is a shame because all of the options there looked quite nice.
I think the secret is to dine here during a time that isn't busy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The melon prosciutto burrata salad was incredible. Great for lunch! Super fresh.
Also loved the elderflower wine spritzer. It was a rough Monday so a European-style tipsy lunch was necessary. So glad we stopped in here post beach walk.
The scallops salad was good too but I’d go for the burrata if on the fence.

I recently had the pleasure of indulging in a truly remarkable culinary experience. I savored a plate of fettuccine pasta adorned with the exquisite flavors of truffle and caviar. This culinary delight was a part of the weekly special at the restaurant, and it left an indelible impression.
The fettuccine pasta was cooked to perfection, with a delicate al dente texture that allowed each bite to melt in your mouth. The truffle infused a rich, earthy aroma that tantalized the senses and added a depth of flavor that was simply divine. To elevate the dish further, the generous sprinkling of caviar provided a luxurious burst of briny goodness that complemented the truffle impeccably.
The entire experience was a symphony of flavors and textures that danced on my palate. The restaurant's attention to detail in crafting this dish was evident, and it truly felt like a gastronomic masterpiece. It's a testament to the chef's skill and creativity.
Overall, my experience with the fettuccine pasta with truffle and caviar was nothing short of amazing. It's a dish that I would enthusiastically recommend to any food enthusiast seeking a culinary adventure that transcends the ordinary.

This pasta dish I’d give a 8.5/10. I believe it was the spinach pasta with scallops. It couldn’t been a 10/10 if the pasta was al dente and less dry. The pasta was over cooked and they stuck together. Scallops were also over cooked and had shrunk in size. Lots of potential this dish if done right. Thanks!

I thought waiters very professional and answered any question satisfactory. My only recommendation is that customer should know before ordering that tips are included and not ehen you go to pay the bill. Also you should be told to pay inside. However its a risky business to have when some individuals could walk out on a full stomach without notice when busy.
I alway have taken my friends as a locals to enjoy this restaurant cause it is excellent and accommodating ,

I walked here from my hotel. I sat on the patio on a lovely day. There are plenty of umbrellas so it had plenty of shade. I ordered the freshly squeezed OJ, ham and cheese croissant and the French toast and everything absolutely delicious. I would even go as far to say it might be some of the best French toast I've had. I guess depending on what you want from service it was fine. You ordered on an app and it was brought to you. Overall a good experience.

Stopped in to sample the brunch. The food was excellent: looked beautiful, tasted good, and relatively large portions. I asked that the eggs Benedict be made pescatarian, and they added a lovely assortment of vegetables. Yolks were a perfect creaminess when I cut into them. I had a Napoleon for dessert which was also good .
They were quite busy on a Saturday, and so I ended up ordering at the bar (as opposed to using a waiter) and the table I sat at was outside on the uneven sidewalk and thus pretty wobbly. Suggest coming earlier to get the nicer seats!

This is the sort of brunch places one constantly searches for but only rarely encounters - not just delicious but innovative as well. We tried two of the menu highlights and both were so enjoyable. The Benedict here is not just any Benedict - the salmon roe, béarnaise sauce, hass avocado, with the farm eggs were unbelievably dopamine-inducing. The waffle was no less impressive - you got crispy waffle that’s made of rice combined with the super tasty ricotta cheese and a special kind of buttery compote, plus all the ripe berries - and the weird thing was that the whole thing didn’t taste too sweet or overwhelming and I couldn’t have enough!

So I rarely write reviews and honestly don’t think I’ve ever written a negative review but the circumstances I encountered on two occasions at Papille Gustative, unfortunately, inspired this review. I’m an LA native and local who just moved their permanent home into the Ocean Park neighborhood of Santa Monica. I had walked past this restaurant a couple of times and was very excited to try it as it looked really good, was only four blocks from my new place and I always love having a go-to local spot.
The first time I went was on a Saturday night in late May. I made a reservation for 7:45 though when I arrived I was surprised to see that there were plenty of open tables even though it was a nice evening. We were promptly seated by a friendly host and then sat for literally 20 minutes (again, maybe 3 of the six or eight outdoor tables were occupied) before I flagged down a waiter who came over and simply said, “Yes?” I asked him if we could get water and order since we had been sitting quite some time. He actually just walked away without saying anything. My guest and I looked at each other perplexed. The waiter returned in a couple of minutes, poured us water and said curtly, “Are you ready?” We ordered and that was the last we saw of him (another server who was warm and friendly brought the food). We had to flag the waiter down again after we were done to request a dessert menu and then again for the check. Each time he arrived, he was rude and acted like we were inconveniencing him. It was seriously the worst service I’d ever received at what seemed to be a decent restaurant. I personally despise entitled people and so am myself hesitant to ever complain but I did tell the host and another member of the wait-staff on our way out that our waiter was appalling. They apologized profusely and assured me if I came back it would be much better. Fortunately, the food was very good and I know every place has an off night so, in spite of terrible service, I was willing to try again. Two weeks later I made another Saturday night reservation for 7:00 (which again, turned out to be unnecessary). We were promptly seated in the same waiter’s section as my previous visit. This time, we ordered within 5 minutes, our salad arrived shortly thereafter (which was delicious) and then…..nothing; no food, no water refill, nothing. At 8:10, we got up and walked out. What a joke! I honestly don’t know how they stay in business and understand why on Main St. on a Saturday night, the place isn’t that busy. Such a shame. I really wanted to love (or even just like) this place. I had told my foodie friend about my first experience there but still encouraged him to go for the fettucine and scallops. After my second experience, I told him not to bother. When I walk by this place in the future and see it shuttered, I will sadly shake my head with understanding.
In response to Calin's reply and question below, yes, same server both times (which I stated in my review). I am of Hungarian descent and I believe I recognized the server's accent as Eastern European, possibly Hungarian.

Avoid. Don't come near, take your business somewhere else. The service was one of the worse I have ever seen. We sat down before 6, ordered immediately, got our food over an hour later. We finished, asked for the bill, got it over half an hour later. Overall, spent 3 hours here, 2 of which were waiting. Moreover, the waiter was unable to charge us separately, and we were forced to split the bill, which was shameful since I had ordered more expensive items. On top of that, the waiter overtipped himself, without showing it on the card reader display (which only showed the split bill) and without giving me the option to choose a tip.

This restaurant was one of the best in LA. I think it is more famous for brunch, but the dinner was great too. We had the salad, filet mignon and salmon, then chocolate mousse for desert. The wine selection was also good. Menu is limited, but it is on point for a refreshing and delicious dinner. The service was also on point. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Only the best and freshest ingredients adorn the menu. The smell of the freshly baked bread is sure to pull you in. The soup was served hot and stayed hot throughout my entire meal. My salad was beautiful composed and balanced with arugula, bleu cheese, avocado, pasta and raspberries with a light vinaigrette. My Cafe au lait was beautifully crafted and smooth. The caprese is made with only the freshest burrata and I will be sure to return to sample more selections from this menu. I have taken two cookies to go and I expect they will be sublime. *Even the urinal is tres magnifique!

I feel like this is a little hidden gem on Main Street! We’ve been twice for brunch now but both times had a good experience.
Their food and cafe drink menus are both quite extensive and it usually takes us a minute to decide what we want. We’ve ordered the shakshouka and stuffed croissant both times we’ve gone which are both sooo tasty– the shakshouka has a little kick (low spice tolerance havers beware 😉) and the cream and fruit in the stuffed croissants are to die for 🤤
We tried the curried cauliflower soup which was delightful for a cold rainy day. some of the special lattes are really interesting too, the banana chocolate latte in particular is super unique and tasty (I believe the banana syrup is made in-house).
Typically not a super long wait, staff are pretty attentive but it’s an order-at-the-counter vibe with seating available.
Only things I would dock a star for are that the interior layout feels a bit clunky. It feels crowded even when it’s not busy because there isn’t a ton of space for guests; and for some reason the space feels a little dark and colder than warm and inviting. Music is also often hit or miss (another place where the playlist doesn’t quite match the vibe I’d expect at a coffee shop).
Overall would recommend though! We’re hooked and will defs be back ¨̮

Good food, but If there is an automatic 18% gratuity then I except an actual waiter to take my order. I should not have to order online or walk inside. Honestly that ruined the meal for me. I won't be returning or tipping any extra when though I usually tip 30-40%.
Also alot of the meals mentioned on google aren't available, felt like false advertising to me. Good food though!

You order via QR and they automatically include a service charge. What is the service charge for if I'm ordering myself and have no one to ask questions to about the food? I had to track down someone for salt and pepper because the avocado toast had zero seasoning and was flavorless. I ordered a cappuccino with goat milk. They were out and substituted with cows milk without first asking. Way overpriced even for Santa Monica. They also don't have Bloody Marys. Boo.

The fall dinner was amazing! Four courses of amazing food at a very accessible price. Nothing was anything less than elegant and delicious

The best French toast I’ve ever had in my entire life! And this is coming from someone who eats out almost every day.. My girl got the salmon eggs Benedict and that was amazing as well highly recommend!

First time here and I ordered a coffee Latte. Latte is brewed by a talented barista. It’s almost as good as other $6 Latte in West LA and South Bay.
The atmosphere is homely and the music is up beat. It might not be everyone’s cup off but it feels relaxing and the coffee is decent.
The bathroom decor is unusual. I was not sure what to think of the design but somehow it works; in a weirdly color tone matchy way.

My spouse and I went there for brunch. The place is cute and clean. I don’t know if it’s the same for dinner, but during brunch, you scan their QR code and order and pay straight from your phone. We ordered coffee, I had the overnight oats, and my spouse had some potatoes. The coffee came, which was pretty good, but 40 minutes passed by, and no one came to check on us, and we hadn’t received our order.
We then ask a server about our order. He returns and says that the kitchen didn’t receive our order and that they were preparing it right away. About 10 minutes pass by, and then we get what we ordered. The oats were good, but the potatoes weren’t great; they were dry and tasteless.
Due to my experience, I can’t say that I like and recommend this place, nor will I return.

Always pleasant to come. Love the owner, she always makes sure that you feel loved and welcome

Tasty food beautifully presented but the portions of salads and vegetables are small. Infinitesimally small. The setting is nicely done and one would hardly know one is only inches from the road. I dined alone and my waiter, Fabrizio, was very attentive and charming. However, someone should let the fellow who fills the water know that once a patron has firmly said “I will not be having any more water” after the third ask should not be asked twice more.

Very pleasant atmosphere, with a well-constructive and attractive seating area along the street for outdoor dining.
Our food was prepared beautifully, with the vegetarian dish (couscous) done with imagination and flavor. A steak dish was close to correct, with the inside only underdone by a degree due to the thickness of a filet. Due to limited selection by the glass and price I opted to skip wine with dinner, and the beer I wanted was unavailable. A simple red house wine at a lower price point would have solved my dilemma on this, but it didn't detract from the meal too much.
The road was a little loud, with cars and occasionally motorcycles. The butter pasta was good, but a little too rich and buttery. The chamomile tea was excellent, and I left feeling full and satisfied. I would recommend this place to others. Not the best, but pretty good.
Above all is the staff. Relaxed and attentive, they made the dining experience very nice.

Loved the food! The owner is super nice, as well as the staff. They had a GREAT band with Duke Paul as the singer. Can't wait for them to play again and come back to enjoy the great music and delicious Lamb Chops!!!

I'm a bit obsessed with everything about his place. It feels like you're in Europe the second you walk in. We saw the amazing outdoor set up from down the street, and were just drawn to it. The staff was so excited that we were there, and made us feel so special. The food is great, and on Wednesday nights, they have wine/jazz nights with half price bottles of wine. We are so lucky to have this place in our neighborhood!

We went there for lunch/brunch today and had iced tea and quinoa salad. Both were tasteless. Maybe we just ordered wrong.

Just finished the nicest wine Wednesday on the westside. 1/2 off bottles + jazz how could I not!? My server, Peter, was attentive and sweet, and Lindsay who appeared to be running the show was a joy and made my experience memorable. I'll definitely be back to try brunch and many many more wine/jazz Wednesdays!
PS: everything on the menu looked delicious!

Had the brunch plate and yogurt parfait... Both were AMAZING, but would recommend the brunch plate over the parfait -- lots of amazingly fresh flavors and tastes. We were served by Lorenzo who was super nice and passionate about the food, made the whole experience excellent.

Absolutely delightful place with the most amazing food and the most impeccable service.
Once you’re in you’re being taken on adventure of carefree enjoyment. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable, the food is fantastic, the menu has everything for every taste. The ambience is yummy!! And they have Jazz on Sundays which I’m dying to come back for.
A gem of SM!!! Super duper good.

Surprisingly delicious even though the decorating is all over the place and the staff may be a little high 😉👍but the vibe is so cheerful and the chef has amazing presentation. We will be back for jazz nights!
