The service we had was terrible and the food was the okayest. You can ask for modifications to your food (like switching out a certain type of cheese or asking for something to be well done) but the cooks don't pay attention to the notes the server gives them, and then the server doesn't verify that the dishes were made properly. Our server also ignored us, but was checking up on everyone around us when we were done and needed the receipt that I had to ask one of the hostess for help with getting our server to visit our table. The best part was the view by the window, but the booths don't even comfortably fit 2 people on one side, like you can't open both menus at the same time kind of closeness. If you decide to come, I'd recommend lowering your expectations.

On a cold and misty Saturday evening in October I traveled north on 31 toward Geneva. I saw a tall tower lit up in the night sky near the Fox River Trail and remembered that Harner’s was open for dinner. I arrived a bit late and even close to closing time they were happy to seat me! I sat at the dinning table with circular stools over looking the delicious bakery treats. I enjoyed the Homemade Minestrone and best Salad Bar Around (reminding me of my Wisconsin Supper Club dinners)

I enjoyed the Prime Rib Special and experience wonderful service. I enjoyed listening the staff work together to close up the restaurant. You can tell a lot by how coworkers work together and this place is the magical spot where everything that is right and good still exists in the world.

A great meal. Great service. Even the clientele was great. It is a must go. ❤️☀️

I've only ever gone here for the donuts, they are delicious. Very crispy and light and airy on the inside. They also sell cake donuts and other pastries. Get here early if you like custard donuts since they are the first to sell out. Definitely the best donuts in the area and easily accessible business. The long John's are really good, very thick layer of icing. There's so many options it can be hard to choose. They also serve breakfast and make pretty much everything.

Good home style breakfast and brunch. Nice big country style atmosphere.

Bakery is famous and some already ran out. The cranberry nut is OK, sticky and chewy, little salty.

Friendly service.

The payment is done at the cashier and it is slow. There’s only one card machine and the line is long.

Instead of signing the print out receipt, the staff asked how much tip we want to give, so it feels like less privacy.

Good food, hadn't been in a while, noticed prices have gone way up. They offer a salad bar with soups, not many places offer that anymore. Most options are good there but a few are bland. Burgers and open face sandwichs are tasty. Wonderful bakery, burgers are their own meat raised and processed by Harners, way better than the mystery ground beef you get in most grocery stores. Will definitely go back.

Update: We've cut back on how often we come here now. Some loud and rude waitstaff have literally ruined our lunch a couple of times, and some of the food isn't as great as it used to be. I hope they consider they'll need to not just cater to older folks and be sure to keep up their standards. I'd hate to see them go because they're absolutely a landmark.

Prior: We always EAGERLY look forward to eating here! It's one place you don't have to be afraid to try new things... everything is home cooking at it's finest and I don't know how they do it! Wait staff / everyone is super friendly & if you're lucky enough you've got a view of the river. Support local in these times and this one's an utter treasure!

This place is known for their butter pecan coffee cake. It's unbelievable! They have a wide variety of other bakery items- donuts, pies, cookies and more.
Their is also a dining room and they have really good food. Service has always been good over the years- very consistent. Great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just picking up sweet treats!

The restaurant side has a lovely all you can eat buffet with several salads and soups that can be added to any meal for a few dollars more. I've eaten there many times and have never been disappointed. It all tastes homemade. Then let's talk about the bakery side of things. OMG!! Delicious cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, and breads. Some friends and I had dinner in the restaurant for the first time recently, and it was great! I got the roast beef dinner and it was excellent - so comforting and delicious! Dinner was also very reasonably priced.

Country fried steak, eggs, spaztle, biscuits n gravy, with that quintessential diner coffee and mug. 10/10...
To end it all. The pecan coffee cake was remarkable...
But. The absolute best of this all was the service by Kris...
I told her and the manager....
"Kris was so perfect at her job. That if every server in America trained under her. There wouldn't ever be a problem in another restaurant again."

Had a great dinner here at Harner's had never been before, had done some research and found this place online and so happened to see the Pork Roast deal this Friday (Sept. 6th). My husband was off that day so thought it was perfect and with a family of six thought it was doable with the Anniversary Pork Roast poster they had posted on their website. We didn't tell any of our children we were going to eat out because we wanted to surprise them since it had been months since we had eaten at a restaurant! They were so happy! We got 5 Roast pork specials and a kids meal for our youngest. Everything was delicious! The only issue we had is when we went to pay. They had charged us $23.50 each for the Pork Roast when the add posted online just yesterday said $19.75 each. I even had it in our hand to show them and they said that was an old ad and that the price was $23.50 each. They then took the ad and didn't give it back. We payed, but knew that was wrong advertising. I'm disappointed because we are on a very tight budget and we had planned to buy a bunch of goodies at the bakery after. I have attached the ad I printed just yesterday and their everyday menu price. I also have the screenshot of the file name it says Sept 2024. The menu file online actually says 2023 so if you would like to argue old price. I am just hoping to bring some awareness to this issue. The ad is now off the website.

Food was less than okay, restrooms clean. Had one BIG issue, I ordered from the kids menu, and was told they wouldn't fulfill my order because I'm not a child. I explained that I had gastric bypass surgery and can only eat a small amount. They still refused. So we spent $20 on food that I left over half of it there...what a waste! The older lady that must have been there a while, pointed at me while talking to two or three other servers, laughed and went back and forth, laughing at me and my request. How dare you! I cannot believe anyone of you could be so childish and just plain RUDE! Your less than mediocre food is the joke. Must be the delicious pastries from your bakery that keeps your business open. Never will I step foot inside this establishment again. Treating someone the way you did, what is wrong with you? What this woman's name was I do not know, but she had glasses and short gray hair. You could see by her demeanor she must be the head waitress or been there a long while. She was the one our server asked about my special request. Shame on you ma'am, shame on you.

Old-school, family-owned restaurant with a country kitchen feel. We ordered their homemade specialty “Butter Pecan Coffee Cake” to share. It came out warm and was absolutely delicious! Neither of us were a big fan of the pancakes and sausage patties but the coffee cake made up for I: I ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast but the server forgot to add it into my order once the food came out so we didn’t get to try that. As for the bakery, we really enjoyed their selection of different pastries, cookies, and cakes. I had a chocolate cake donut and a smiley face cookie, both of which you could tell were homemade. They were both fresh and tasty. My fiancé had a slice of their apple pie and she absolutely loved it. The butter pecan coffee cake was so good we had to get loaf to go! If you love a good bakery, this is your spot!

I recently bought a cake for a graduation party. First, the staff is super kind and helpful which I was having a hard time finding at other places. Second the cake was DELICIOUS! people at the party were asking me where it was from and commenting on how delicious it was as well. I will order all cakes from Harners from now on! I will recommend them to everyone I know!

This was without question the worst decision I’ve made in a long time. Generally, we’ve been happy with Harner’s. Today, I ordered the French toast. Being a bakery, I suppose it’s my fault for assuming I’d have some nice, thick French toast-style bread. I got bread that was thinner than a standard bread loaf thickness, undercooked and tasting like thin sliced egg wash. When it was obvious I wasn’t going to eat it - by pushing away my plate after about 2 bites in less than 5 minutes, the server topped off my coffee and only asked if I wanted it “boxed up to take home”. Then when I said “no thank you”, she just came back, and dropped off the check. No asking if there was a problem of if I wasn’t ok with what I received. If you don’t care enough to inquire, and it’s sub par quality, I’ll take my money elsewhere. We don’t live in a void - there’s better options out there. Heck, my daughter did better and cared more when she was in elementary school making my the traditional “Mother’s Day breakfast”. Then tacking on a “credit card fee” that 2 different employees at the front couldn’t explain? Here……take my cash and lose my family’s business. We’ve already found better places to support.
