I had a great experience at The Bicycle Place, recently relocated to Rockville!

This past June, I had committed to a long bike trip and needed a new ride. A good friend referred me to Mike and his team. Mike emailed me a number of options, very detailed, and I narrowed it down to two bikes. After a stop in and run through, I purchased a new gravel bike which is awesome! It completely met all expectations and after 162 miles was in better shape than yours truly.

The BP also offers free tuneups for one year and I have already taken advantage as I have a century ride coming up. High recommend and check ‘em out if you need a new bike or bike gear!

In a past life, I worked as a mechanic at 3 bike shops in the DC area, and 3 more in Colorado, so I have a pretty fair understanding of what makes a good bike shop from both sides of the counter. These guys are the real deal, in terms of taking care of your riding needs, and of treating you as you'd like to be treated. Top marks.

The owner Mike and his Ace mechanic Jay always takes time to greet customers and help in any way they can. You will be treated and serviced with 1st Class.
I appreciate them because they treat everyone the same and I highly recommend anyone thinking about getting their bike serviced or repaired to take it to The Bicycle Place. You will be in good hands and you will have a trusted relationship with an owner and mechanic that cares enough to give and gives enough to care. They are the best!!!!

I had an excellent experience at this bike shop! While riding along the Rock Creek Trail, my shifting cable unexpectedly broke. Luckily, this shop was just 1.5 miles away, so I rode / walked my bike over. They promptly fixed the issue and even improved the shifting performance beyond its previous state. Their professionalism and immediate assistance were truly impressive. I highly recommend their services, and I'll certainly be returning in the future. Thank you!"

first time visiting this bike shop to get my rear tire tube fix. this place is very chill and the guys working there are very friendly.
I would recommend this shop if you need something fixed.

Have been up and down the east coast as a bicycle company representative & as a customer.
I can say confidently that Mike & the shop community that exists here is top notch. From simple mechanical fixes to complex race geometry fitting this is the ‘place’ to be.

This Sunday afternoon, I needed a cluster removal tool, but the bike was old and the tool wasn't in stock, so Shawn and Mike took off the cluster at no charge and ordered the FR-5 tool. I need to do more business with them so they can make some money and remain open. Thanks guys!

Well stocked shop, friendly staff. But actual mechanical work was terrible. I'm actually not sure they touched my bike at all, but was definitely charged $135 for it. Took it in for chain jumping and rear wheel feeling loose. The gears are shifting even worse after picking it up and I can visibly see more of a wobble in my rear wheel then before I took it in. Definitely not planning to return there for service.

Best bike store I have ever been to. Mike and Jay are top pros. Mike got me out of a fix… I crashed and destroyed my rear wheel on Beech drive… I limped to his store where he replaced everything that was needed despite being a busy Saturday, super quick and great price. Super place.

They do good, quick, honest work and they're always friendly. Also, the shop is well-stocked with those little things like tire levers and tubes that you need frequently.

In the course of over 10 yrs, I bought 2 women Trek road bikes from them. Even after their move 2x, I followed. Mike and his first rate mechanical experts, not only has the expertise and are cyclists too. Recently had them do a “get out SPRING special” tune-up, it was quite a transformation, overhauling for a fair price. Now, it’s even better than new.
If they can handle SEVEN (custom made) bikes, trust their skillset. And if you are in the market for a new bike, be sure to get it from a shop like this. Even tho’ there are big chain bike shop with probably better price. The few dollar you save aren’t comparable to the premium service they provide as you’ll need it over the years, for safety and again for peace of mind.

I only told them to fix a broken spoke, but they went ahead and cleaned, lubricated, and fixed a bunch of other problems for free. I could barely recognize it when I first saw it. Very simple and fast service, got it turned around in 1 day.

The staff is great - friendly and knowledgeable. They helped me deal with some stroller tire issues. I will definitely be using them for bicycles as well.

Realized my review of their old location didn’t carry over. This is my go to bicycle shop in the area. Staff and management are really friendly and treat you like family. Repair costs always seem fair and honest and they have often done small things for me without a charge. They used to be short on bikes during the pandemic but have recently had a good selection of exciting bikes in their showroom.
