The staff is also amazing, helping pick flavors that will match what the customer will like and won’t like. They are as excited about the bons as the customers, when you think of happy people working at a chocolate shop, it’s only a fraction of what they are like at Bon Bon Bon. It’s worth every penny and I will keep on coming back.

We split them into threes so we could all try a piece. They are a little expensive. That's why the four star. Nothing you would go out and purchase once a week or something

I’m such a fan of this place but unfortunately have to share a bad experience. I arrived at the store at 6:47pm, knowing they close at 7. The door was locked- an employee quickly opened the door and I apologized for being there so late but I needed a birthday present for the following day. He told me that I could only pay cash, as he had already “shut the register down” for the night and was unable to open it to allow me to pay with a card. I explained that I drove 25 minutes for a birthday present for the following day and he said sorry there was nothing he can do. I’m incredibly disappointed, and will not be returning for future gifts.

We stopped here for the first time ever and the employee was very friendly and welcoming. He explained that we could pick and choose any number and variety of their flavors, and even through in a few extras! The treats were absolutely delicious. Will definitely be returning!

Soooo for Mother's Day, I ordered several of the spring collections online. My plan was to run across the border and grab them as a lovely Mother's Day gift. In my rush, I did not double-check the hours. I arrived at 10. They actually open at that location at noon. When I called the other store RYAN!!!!! actually left his store came and opened up the other store just to get my order for me. I have always loved BON BON BON for the amazing treats. Ok, this place is killer. I received many recommendations to go and passed it up my last time in Detroit, and quickly felt like a fool for doing so once I finally made my way there this weekend.
These bon bons are outrageously delicious! Tried the better butter crunch which is well balanced, salty, and has just enough better made chips in it. Fell in love with the packaging: the little boxes are works of are, and the attention to detail right down to an elastic band decorated with a cute bow graphic. Love it all!

These little chocolates are packed with many different flavors! From peanut butter to bourbon (my personal fave). They are expensive but it's chocolate, so we are not going to complain about that! They're so good! You'll almost feel bad eating them because they look like little works of art but then you won't because they're packed with flavor.

$3 for a cubic inch of bonbonbon seems steep until you see the things. Well worth!

Give yourself time if you're stopping in, I've only even seen a couple people behind the counter at a time and they absolutely will not rush customers when they're picking and asking questions. This is a big plus to me but ymmv.

While you're waiting you can walk the counter and pick out what you want, but it's hard to keep track of what you pick without some kind of guide. Laminated menus and dry erase markers or something would be a fun touch while waiting!

BonBonBon is my absolute favorite confectionery in the entirety of the Detroit area! Their chocolates are creatively and painstakingly designed, and not to mention they are absolutely delicious. The packaging and presentation are also both fitting of the quality of the chocolates.

Also, every time I've been in the store, the staff that helped me have been incredibly helpful and answered any questions. My most recent visit was to pick up something for Valentine's Day and team member initialed AS (I didn't catch her full name) went so far above and beyond in helping me decide what to get and packaging it up well that I am a loyal customer for life.

The chocolates are very tasty, and the concept is super cute. Individually boxed, it's neat, but for almost 4 bucks a candy, a little too pricey. Maybe skip the boxes and throw them all in a bag since they get eaten pretty quick anyway. Plus, the hassle to get the box open is kind of annoying. 4.5 for taste, 2 for price, 1 for packaging.

UPDATE: Raised to 3 stars for 2 reasons. They actually did answer the phone (and that is rare, right? lol)...and they responded to this review immediately. So, kudos for that.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Chocolates are very good. Delivery and cost are horrible.

Bought 4 different brands of premier chocolates at the same time. 3 weeks before Christmas. Bon Bon Bon was the only one that charged me $50 extra for the delivery. That was fine, I was paying for expensive chocolate anyway. The other 3 brands Didn't charge those delivery costs. The other 3 brands all were delivered 2 weeks before Christmas. Bon Bon Bon promised pre-christmas delivery and I paid $50 for it. They were delivered the week after christmas. I called them the week before because I had gotten my other chocolates but not theirs. They had no clue what was going on or what the status of the order was. The girl was especially annoying. "These are amazing, you're going to love them, I talked to shipping manager and he's aware. This is all going to be awesome!" Seriously, that's exactly what she said.

I don't need bubble headed kiddie talk being blown up my derrier...I need my chocolates delivered when you said you were going to deliver them. lol.

Great chocolate. Maybe the best out of the 4 I bought. Company in serious need of decent managers. Doesn't seem to have a clue how to run a business or what customer service is... but they sure can make good chocolate. If you see it somewhere, buy it. If you're ordering online...caveat emptor :)

Typically love this shop and was excited to see them vending at DUCF. I bought two chocolate cassette tapes and they were packaged neatly, held together with a rubber band. Just separated them a few days ago, as I was organizing my kids’ stocking gifts, and discovered one chocolate cassette and one very empty box. A pretty pricey hit to take. Reached out, no response yet, hopefully I’ll hear back.

The chocolate from here used to be SO great. I am seeing a decline in the quality over the passed 6 months. Maybe growing too quickly? Not enough quality assurance? The price for me just doesn’t reflect what I’m getting anymore and it’s sad. I talked with an old employee about it. They said that they weren’t treated very well (along with their coworkers) and that’s why they left… Going to have to take my business elsewhere. Sorry, I can’t spend $3.33 on a bite of chocolate knowing the product isn’t what it used to be, and the employees aren’t reaping the benefits. 😞😕

Had such a great customer service experience with Bon Bon Bon! I received my order of chocolate only to have my dog knock them off the table to eat almost all of it! No worries, though, I took him to the vet immediately and he is just fine now. I had been ready to splurge on a gourmet treat for my birthday, but ultimately didn't get to enjoy but a few pieces, and now I also had an unfortunate vet bill. Still, the chocolate I did get to try was excellent and I shared that I still really enjoyed what I was able to have through a review on the company's website. Surprisingly, when they read about what happened, I received a call and the company sent out a replacement set! It was so kind, and I was so excited! This time, I stored them really high up on a shelf so curious puppies could not get to them at all and I got to try them all. The Bon Bon Bons are amazing, have really interesting and yummy flavors, and are so stinkin' cute! Thank you so much Bon Bon Bon, for helping make sure my experience was wonderful!

Great gift idea. We are traveling to Quebec to meet new family members after a recent marriage, so I bought eight 12-packs of assorted bon bons. I have not been here before, but the sample I purchased was delicious. The person working there was very helpful and patient. I also bought a very cute sweatshirt for our new daughter-in-law. I love the effort the shop made to use recyclable packaging that is cut to size for an order.

Now we just need to keep these from melting in the summer heat all the way to Montreal and Quebec City! I think these will be a hit with our new family members.

Post-travel update: Everyone raved about their gift chocolates! One family member is a professional baker who makes her own chocolate and desserts, and she thought the Bon Bon Bon chocolates were excellent. We even had two couples who were very protective of their gift when others came snooping around. ;-)

Bon Bon Bon is my go-to for any occasion when I’m not quite sure what to get. I’ve sent them to my parents for an anniversary, as a thank you gift, and a birthday gathering that requested “no gifts”, but I wanted to bring a little something. Okay these are hands amazing! To be fair, I was a little hesitant at $3 a piece at first, but they LOOK like they're worth $3 once seeing them out of the box. They taste amazing! We're on a mission now to try all of the flavors! The staff was friendly, and it's nice to see they have 100% recyclable packaging. They definitely need some kind of scorecard/app/mini notebook of all of their flavors so customers can keep track. Highly recommend here if you have a sweet tooth.

Very fast and courteous service! Parking was a bit of a challenge, however there is nearby parking available. Thier packaging is one of the most unique and sturdy I have ever seen. I got 12 in a box and that has to be some of the best packaging ever. Now for the tasting, very nice job, very delicious! I saw posts saying it was not great and just sweet. I think some flavors are less prominent and if you get one that has that it may get lost and just taste sweet. So for me I got 7 different kinds and all were very good, the only exception was the cinnamon bun one, the only reason I say that is the description said cinnamon caramel and the "caramel" was watery thin. If caramel is interacting with other ingredients because of it's hygroscopic characteristics I suggest separating filling from caramel by painting coconut oil on the top of the caramel, cinnamon flavorwas on point though. The rose and thorn was flipping amazing, I love the taste of rose and hate when you can't taste it, job well done. Lemon bar tasted exactly like a lemon bar, not lemon meringue, a lemon bar. Passion fruit was used well in thier application, it can overpower and it did not do so. Overall OUTSTANDING job. When I am back in Detroit I will definitely be stopping by for round two!! Highly recommend trying this place!

We ordered over 80 pieces of chocolate for our wedding and every single piece was amazing. Delivery was excellent, shipping to Florida and not a single piece was melted. We ordered 6 different flavors and our guests raved about them all. If you are looking for a wonderful high end wedding favor this is your go to item! Our guests loved that they didn't have to carry it home in a suitcase, they kept incredibly well. Can not recommend this company enough!

Wow, what an amazing place to visit in midtown Detroit. We came here on a whim before we went to Third Man Records and boy am I glad I did. Not only was the girl (sorry I forget her name) helping us incredibly personable, but as we talked to her, she became busy and told each group thank you for coming in, but she always smiled.

All the desserts looked delicious, but the assistant told us what we might like and what is are local favorite. I'm so glad we stopped by.

We ended up buying 6 pieces for ourselves and 6 pieces for our food blogger friend to try. I'm sure she'll love it.

The lady behind the counter today was super nice and hooked us up bc it was our anniversary (thank you!!!). The Bubs was good, though not sure we could taste the champagne. The Bourbon one could be a bit more bourbon-y and I have yet to try the sticky bon. Dont get me wrong - they are delicious! I also wish they would have a discount on larger orders (like 6 for $15 or something). I would love to try more!

Excessive and wasteful packaging for mail order. Very little environmental consideration for such a small amount of chocolate. Was frustrated and disappointed before I even got to the actual bon bon’s. Not worth the waste to mail.

The chocolates are delicious and pretty with unique flavors. However, at this price point I expect more in the way of presentation. The chocolates are individually packaged, so if you are giving as a gift the recipient has no pretty box of chocolates to entice them, until they open each individual bon bon. I also find that some of the flavor combinations are so subtle that many of them taste the same. This may just be my pallete.

Tried to visit this location at 5:30 today and the door was locked, but the posted hours said they are open till 7pm. I called the store as well and no answer. I will not try to visit this location again.

Stood outside in the freezing cold tonight in order to grab a box for my wife for Valentines Day. We opened them tonight and they’re amazing. I’d stand outside in the cold again if I had to!

Two words: Can't get enough!

Ok, maybe that was more than two. Seriously though, ordering online was a breeze and they make sure to take extra care of your product during shipping, all while working on using sustainable products! My favorite was the smores. I ordered from here a long time ago, never really forgot about it but it was not at the top of my mind. Rebeldogsdetroit posted about them and it all came flooding back. Ordered online and already have a second order in the works. So worth it, so indulgent!

Love everything about this business! The packaging is always on point. Loyal customer! The Bons are always delicious and beautiful! The staff are always so helpful and friendly! I visited the Midtown location for the first time yesterday to pick up some chocolate for my daughters teachers and I just love the interior design of the space. So cute! I love gifting Bon Bon Bons to my friends and love spoiling myself. My 6yo daughter loves splitting the Bons to get a taste of each flavor with me. What a fun activity! Grabbed the cute pink mug, magnets, and the yummy hot Cheetos floppy disc yesterday.

Walking in to Bon Bon Bon, their colours are so bright and welcoming. They have huge pictures on the walls of some of their creations. The employee that helped us was so friendly and thoroughly described many of the sweets. We left with about four of their chocolates. They were individually boxed and each chocolate has a detailed description on it. The chocolates are so delicious and inventive. We can’t wait to go back.

The strawberry and balsamic chocolate is to die for. Perfect balance and mellow vinegar bring out the sweetness of the chocolate without being overpowering. Unique experience in a cute shopping area. Will definitely be back next time I visit.
