I used to love this ShopRite but those days are unfortunately over. They've always had an officer there for thieves but now that's grown into a power trip to harass regular customers. The officer has this power ego that is truly bringing down the morale of the store. If corporate knew what they were doing, they'd stop that immediately. The cop is friends with the lady upfront and now they stand there looking over your shoulder, making me and my children very uncomfortable, rushing us at the self service area, which is not right.
It was NEVER like that. They've always been very kind and polite but for the past year or two, it's slowly become a power issue that I know for sure corporate is unaware of.
I'm not one to do this but i had to call corporate to inform them because this is honestly a dangerous scenario.

ただ良く分からないのが買いてある価格と実際に購入する価格に差があること。
会員価格みたいなものなのかも知れないが、5、6回通ったが「会員証は？」みたいな事は聞かれたら事が無い。

そして何よりムカつくのが店内にバーコードから価格を調べる機械があるだが、そこで出るのは割引価格。
それを信じて買うと安く無い。

客も多いし良い店なんだろうなとは思うが出張や旅行で来た人にも分かりやすいシステムにして欲しい。

Lately they are always lacking the product that one comes into the store and when you go to the courtesy desk it is always the truck did not come in yet or (the dog ate my homework). It is reprehensible. The store is always dirty and unkempt.

ShopRite.. has become "ShopWrong". After 20 years, I am taking my thousands of dollars a month in groceries to the nearby Walmart. ShopRite and its real owners, Inserra Supermarkets just don't care for your business. Most prices have increased, or some prices have stayed the same, but the size has gotten smaller (bagels, rolls...) and it takes longer than ever to check out, especially at the Deli counter. And the new packaging of their Bowl and Basket chicken... reminds me of roadkill. Fix it! And hire more people! Instead of making customers do their own check-out. Essentially providing free labor.... WHILE paying higher food prices. You OWE this community better service in exchange for the millions of dollars a year it gives you in business. Consumers... show them that you have more self respect... take your business... where they appreciate it. Not ShopWrong!

UPDATE: TODAY, THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2024, 3:19PM: The last time my life partner and I visited ShopRite was on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and I did not notice any changes.

UPDATE: MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2024, 11:42AM: My life partner and I went to ShopRite last Friday, March 8, 2024, in the evening, after 7PM. I noticed no changes.

UPDATE: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2023, 7:47PM: I stopped in, last night to buy some Granny Smith apples. I saw the sign for the weekend's holiday store hours, but did not notice any other changes.

UPDATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2023, 2:18PM: The only thing I have noticed since my previous update is that the prices have increased. For example, Rosa Maria brand extracts and flavorings is currently $1.49 each, for a 6 fluid ounce bottle. Also, I have noticed the quality of the produce has started to improve. Just a quick reminder, there are no more red baskets; now shoppers must use the carriages that can be found in their lanes, outside of the store.

UPDATE: TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2023, 2:46PM: My life partner and I were at this ShopRite yesterday, Monday, May 22, 2023, after 8PM. I did not notice any changes, since my last update.

UPDATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 17, 2023, 1:36PM: I think the quality of the produce is going down again. Also, for the first time in a long time, I noticed a few price increases. Aside from that, the level of customer service and professionalism from the employees remains very high.

UPDATE: MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2022, 6:15PM: If there were any changes at this location of ShopRite, that happened between Friday, October 7, and today, Monday, December 19, 2022, I did not notice them.

UPDATE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2022, 9:40PM:
For at least two months now, the number of employees who wear face masks is very small, and the number of customers who do so is even less than that. I AM aware the CDC has declared that covid19 is no longer a pandemic, but as someone who knows three people whose respective mothers died of covid19, one would think one would do everything possible to stop the spread, but I digress.

UPDATE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2022, 1:06AM, ET: I was at this ShopRite yesterday, Friday, August 5, 2022, after 8PM. I was looking for baskets, since I only needed to purchase a few items, and one of my favorite front end managers informed me that the owners permanently removed them. Also, there is now a revised face mask policy in place. Essentially, if you feel more comfortable wearing a face mask, you can, and if you do not, then do not wear one.

Although my family and I have been shopping at ShopRite since I was a little boy, these days, I only buy things at ShopRite that I cannot find elsewhere. Of course, having lost count of how many customers AND employees I saw NOT wearing a face covering that covers the nose and mouth, makes me very glad I do not shop at ShopRite as much as I once did.

It’s actually terribly unfortunate that things had to come down to what they did tonight. My night was once again terrorized and ruined by yet another employee accusing me of not scanning the items underneath my cart. As I was walking out the store this employee approached me immediately saying “you didn’t scan those items” I replied stating that yes, I had scanned them in which she followed up with saying “no you didn’t let me see your receipt”. I demanded I speak with a manager being that this is not the first time it’s happened to me. It’s extremely offensive and discriminatory for whatever reason these employees deem necessary to embarrass their customers. I work for instacart and practically come to this location everyday, it’s unfortunate im now stuck with this constant anxiety of trying to prove I’m not stealing when I’m only trying to do my job. My family and I have always shopped here, it’s sad and traumatizing that this has had to be my experience multiple times. The Manager I spoke with tonight said she would speak to her employees, I really do hope this ends here. After reading other reviews as well, it really goes to show that this is an ongoing situation that needs to be addressed immediately.

On June 2nd, at 9:50pm I was at the self check out aisle, and as I was scanning my items, this employee approached me and basically implied that I hadn’t scanned an item. This has happened multiple times with this particular employee and I’m beginning to feel targeted every time I walk in there and she’s working. Wish I knew her name, all i remember is her glasses and curly short black hair.

I will not be forced to work by having to scan every single item myself at self-checkout. They refuse to have another cashier open beside the express line. 3 front-end employees and 2 more employees standing around at the self-checkout and none of them offered to help me. Mind you, I am spending close to $200 every week at this store. Very unprofessional. I already have a full-time job. Hire more cashiers, or you will continue to lose business.

Boy, have I had it with this store! I used to be thankful that we have a ShopRite store in town, but now I just drive the extra 10 minutes and go to Hoboken. Here are some of the problems I’ve had the past few visits.

In the produce department, the soup vegetables, bagged carrots, and salad kits are always soggy and rotten. There is no point to go there for produce, because they don’t have what I’m looking for, and what’s left is usually a mess.

In the deli department, I have found them selling rotten cheese, covered in mold, in the reduced area. Several times I buy products and discover they’re already rancid. I like buying food that is nearing its expiration to save money and reduce waste. But I found that the food is moldy and inedible often. Never elsewhere.

There is always a long and chaotic line for the customer service area. They seem to never have enough people working, and the people that are working are hostile, and usually don’t provide any form of customer service other than refunds and selling cigarettes. They don’t even like to give out rain checks here. One benefit of the store is that they have the directory on a big billboard in the front, probably so that you don’t have to ask any questions.

All this is to say, this store is most certainly losing business to the other discount retailers nearby. The things that are supposed to separate ShopRite from the other stores, is that it’s a full-service supermarket. But the departments that are supposed to offer full service, are obviously lacking talent, or maybe management the cares?

There’s nothing you can’t get for the same price, or cheaper, at Aldi, Lidl, food bazaar, big lots, or any of the other variety nearby. I started shopping mostly at Acme recently, and I noticed that I’ve been happier to go to the grocery store, and I actually go more frequently.

One shout out to the kids that work up at self check out. They were always friendly and sweet to me. Gave me a reason to smile sometimes after enduring that wicked place.

I used to shop at this store once or twice a week, always, but since I’ve been exploring other grocery options, I realize that I will never step foot in this place again. Which is sad, because I live nearby, and I like the variety that they have. I grew up shopping at ShopRite stores. I feel betrayed that this one is such a dump.

I like this store, it's an old school vibe for me. Lately, the major issue at hand, is the deli department. The workers are really nice and always helpful, no problem with them. There must be a staffing issue because every Monday I go to get my cold cuts for the work week, there are at least 10 or more people ahead of me and only two workers slicing meat. The grab and go variety is unfortunately not as fresh and always the thickest cut meats so that's not an option. Please do better with staffing around your busy times, this is making me go to other Shoprites when I shouldn't have to. This has happened at least 3 Mondays in a row now at around noon.

SUPER DIRTY - there was a dead mosquito baked into one of their “freshly made” cornbread tops! INSIDE THE PACKAGING, on the top piece like a decoration.

Not a single tiramisu in sight, cakes were old & sad, bread was moldy but not a discount to be found anywhere. The aisles weren’t labeled properly, I was all around disappointed & mislead by the reviews.

i went to Shoprite 4th july there was an elderly couple in front of me they were buying a water melon was on sale they cashier young lady in the first row near the entrance told them they needed a digital coupon they didnt understand so they was gong to leave so screamed to them to bring her the melon they refused just left it where it was she was so nasty to the elderly couple i was surprised all i want to say if you are elderly couple do not go to the first register where the girl with the strange hair cut is she feels you are getting a deal she feels she can talk to people as she pleases i went lost my card and went threw hell i told the lady i rather pay full price than to go threw hell to get a deal be careful with this shoprite and if you go keep away from the nasty cashier in the front if she treats elderly people like that you dont want to go to her unless you are young i dont think she will treat young people like that just the elderly young people will sent her to hell and back

The self check out is a DISASTER! I’ve been shopping here for more than 20 years, I grew up coming here. It’s the third time that I’ve experienced rude workers by the self check out. This time, there was a young (woman) worker talking to a cop the whole time. Laughing and chatting. When I started to check out, she grabbed the produce from me and scanned it herself, even though I was scanning everything correctly. Then she came again rudely telling me I put the items on the wrong side of the checkout. It was clear she was trying to impress the cop by trying to belittle me. I’m not sure what her issue was. But it is uncomfortable especially that I’ve been coming here for a long time, and my family lol.

It’s not the first time this has happened. It’s a known thing that the workers at the self check out are rude and will get very close to you.

I never write reviews, this is my first review ever actually. I just had to. We’re all fed up about how rude they are. This occurred May 19 around 7:30pm.

1. Store is outdated and neglected, like a lot of stores owned by Inserra supermarkets.

2. Nothing is in stock, also like a lot of shoprites owned by Inserra supermarkets

3. When asking staff for a manager regarding point #2 above, associate spoke in spanish even after i said i dont speak spanish and refused to assist me. While I understand America is the land of opportunity for everyone and all cultures, employees should be bilingual and speak the main english language along with their native language in order to fully understand the customer. This disrespected me on tons of levels.

4. Not enough cashiers on hand, too many lines even at self checkout.

5. Like most if not all Inserra supermarkets, standards bags are 75 cents and not official shoprite, yet non- inserra shoprites charge between 33 and 50 cents depending on shoprite owner.

Management of this location is poor. Store is highly mismanaged. Whoever updates the app to show if items are in stock/available should be fired. Items on sale and advertised as in stock NEVER are. Feels like False Advertising and Bait n Switch. The replacement items will be 2-5x as much. Example this week they advertised boneless skinless chicken breast for 1.79 they had zero items available for this price(website says in stock) the only available chicken breast was 5.99lb more than 3X as much (Meat dept has a sign open 8am to midnight but closed up tight before 7:30) Same with strawberries advertised for 2.99(website says in stock)the only ones in stock were 7.99 nearly 3x as much. Mangoes advertised for .49(website says in stock) only ones available cost 2x as much. No rain checks available because no employees to issue. Morally questionable and borderline illegal. Store is dirty and shelves are bare. This is a weekly thing for this location. After work this evening only one lane was open forcing me to wait nearly 30 minutes. I was ready to walk out especially considering they didn’t have 1/3 of the items I made the trip for. Seriously shopping here is miserable

Ample, clean, well-lit, organized, secure parking lot for the comfort and convenience of among others ShopRite customers who come to shop at an organized, clean, well-stocked store with low cost prices and friendly emoyees who follow COVID-19 protocols. Oh brother is this place awful. Bring your own bags! Ordinary 80/20 ground beef sells at over $5.00 a pound? 7am opening instead of 630am where if you needed to get something before heading to work you simply can’t. Aisles are narrow and messy, no rhyme or reason to the layout, with the exception of the bacon situated near the eggs in the back right corner. The customer service desk is 98% lottery ticket sales, so if you have a legit issue to handle you’ll sometimes have to wait up to 15 minutes to get looked at. Parking lot is a nightmare of door dings waiting to happen as cart collection is a minimal priority and typically take up numerous parking spaces and folks that shop here don’t care if they hit your car or not. Cameras and security in the lot is for show only. You can’t even review recordings on site when someone hits your car. Sadly there are no other major supermarkets in the area so you’re stuck with this or bodega markets, egads, Walmart, of which there are 2, both both will cost you serious time to reach and shop at. Update 2021: they’ve added self checkout lanes so the lines aren’t as long, but they failed to add “line starts here” signage so on busy days no one knows where to stand and I have witnessed several conflicts caused by this. Pro Tip: if you have more than 20 items don’t do self checkout as the bag dispensers and weight checking staging area is only big enough for about 5 bags and if you move one the scale detects a weight fault prompting a need for a store clerks assistance.
