the service here is over-the-top excellent! my 9-year-old and I were greeted by the ice cream server with exceptional energy and enthusiasm, instantly setting the scene. He quickly gave us small samples of every flavor of interest, and I settled on the praline ice cream (which is amazing!) and we got a discounted large pecan praline (you must try this!) as a bonus. I highly recommend this truly special place - they always have free samples, also a variety of humorous items and treats, great gifts to bring home.

Very disappointed and surprised by the high reviews this place had. I had gelato ice cream and it didn’t taste good or clean, also ice pellets in the gelato showing it’s not fresh. The pecan clusters were also not good. The service at the ice cream station was bad, the person seemed annoyed that I was ordering. As well as the person at the cash.

I also work at Tanger in a different store, I come into y’alls store sometimes and today I was helped by a guy wearing a black top hat and honestly he was just rude I didn’t appreciate how he handled my transaction.. but all good next time I’ll be going to the down town location!

Came to the area to visit family in South Carolina.Im from Philadelphia and this was my first time there I purchased Charleston Crunch and Carmel popcorn and peanut brittle and a few other items and bought them to Philly and my family and I truly enjoyed the experience I would love to get some of those treats here to Philly hope to get some more soon!!!

Very disappointed. 15 before closing, standing in line for ice cream and the employee randomly shuts down the service and said they are closed. The sign clearly says 9pm and yet, they closed early. No interest in actually serving ice cream or treats. Read the reviews, go someplace else, not worth the visit—and you might not even get served.

The pretzels did taste a little old I bought the different flavors but the ICE CREAM (I got Rocky
Road and my daughter got Cookies and Cream) they were both VERY good. We came here 2 times during our Charelston visit. I was disappointed that the pralines were too expensive to consider buying on a budget and there were no choclate covered apples both times I came in... but the praline samples did let me know their pralines were very good.

A lot of variety of old-fashioned 🍬 Candy and they have all types of Candy 🍎 Apples.,my only con about the original Candy Apple is that the Candy is not hard coated Candy and melts off the apple and turns into liquid, not good at all, very disappointing. I love the Perlins with pecans delicious 😋. They offer Ice cream 🍦 and other items. They can be a little pricey but check them out and see for yourself. 😉

Please make sure you're specific when ordering. I mean very detailed, don't assume they understand. When you say wrap bear claws individually, tell them cellophane and sealed because otherwise they'll wrap them in the parchment paper.

Updated review after receiving a prompt reply from management and them showing a sincere, caring, and understanding response -

We visit River Street Sweets frequently, but the service this time was unacceptable and not welcoming. We purchased several different items from pralines, rock candy, fudge, bark, and truffles. All of the items were squished into one approx. 6" x 8" bag. The pralines ended up with mint chocolate fudge on them, and the fudge was squished. The cashier kept asking us was that all as if he didn't want to sell anything. Just a waste of money when everything is crammed into one tiny bag and ends up tasting the same. In the past the service and sweets both were amazing. River Street Sweets is always a must stop on our vacations, but this time disappointing.

Spent $23 per bag for cinnamon pecans and praline pecans. Went to eat them and they are mush. No flavor and clearly old pecans. Will never go back. Wouldn’t have minded the price if they at least tasted decent.

'Stuff happens.' That is what the manager told me tonight just before she walked out the door. My husband, sister, and I went in this evening as they are one of the few places that we can get sugar free chocolates that actually taste good. As diabetics, my sisters and I appreciate that. The place was quite busy and the young girl working was working hard. Did I mention there were 4 people 'working'? There was a young man making pralines and two women sitting on the floor behind the counter. After being ignored for 10 minutes my sister was finally helped by the only girl working and the 2 sitting on the floor moved to the office in the back. A few minutes later one comes out with her jacket and purse. I asked her if she was a manager and when she said yes I asked her why it took 2 of them to fill a cabinet. She said it was broken and they were fixing it. I questioned why it took 2 people to fix a cabinet door when they had this many people in the store and her response was ' Stuff happens.' I walked out without my candy to wait for my husband and sister to make their purchases. My sister comes out with hers and my husband comes out shortly after, empty handed. This is one of the few places he likes to get candy from. He said he was at the register to pay and the girl decided to break up a prailine to give the girl behind him a sample. Only gave one star since it won't let me give less. Won't say never going back, but it will be a while and not while those 2 managers are there.

Best dark chocolate peanut butter cup I have had from this company. BUT - they have to do better training their employees. The person at the front was nice, offered us samples and when we left wished us a good day. The individual at the counter acted as if it was a bother we were there. They did there job but definitely did not put out the welcome mat. Come on River Sweets get on the ball in training your employees. The chocolates here were worth coming back for but the service puts a bad taste in your mouth.
