Black Octopus is amazing. This is as local as it gets - owned/operated/designed by Missy and Jim; amazing people and business owners. I've bought multiple pieces of clothing here - several shirts, sweatpants, hoodies that are lightweight and appropriate for Charleston weather.

Owner Missy was super helpful and very pleasant. Arrived when she was almost closing, Missy was too kind into letting us hang around as she expressed her love for the town. Told her were from California, Missy took her time telling about the local spots. Love this place, great Merch!

Love stopping in to see what Missy has concocted with her beautiful artwork! Shirts, pants, hats, stickers, key chains and more! The clothing feels amazing but it’s her uniqueness of designs, colors, and placements of of her art that brings it over the top!

Stopped in today to finally see where all my amazing stickers have been coming from! I've been receiving them as gifts and have always been impressed by the beautiful and unique designs and also the high quality! Missy is so inviting and proud (rightfully so) of her incredible shop! So many incredible clothing items as well as trinkets (keychains, cups, stickers, etc). This is the perfect place to find a Charleston themed gift (or just a cool as hell gift tbh)! I can't wait to wear my gorgeous new tank top!

Was staying locally from out of town. I had previously shopped here on a trip and wanted to stop back by to grab a few things. From the moment we walked up the owner gave off the most horrendous vibe. There was a group of black gentleman that she was approaching outside on the sidewalk to the left of the building. Asking them basically to move…. They were there setting up for an Art Festival and in no way were a bother to us accessing the store. I later saw her again harp at them from across the street telling them to move…Just was honestly uncalled for and came off racist.

Then once entering her store…she overheard my boyfriend make reference to one of her stickers how it reminded him of a tattoo idea he once had shared with me… she very quickly chirped in with “yeah, but not that one or you’ll be hearing from my lawyer.”

Just save your money and go elsewhere. This isn’t a place that deserves your money.

A MUST visit if you’re in Park Circle! Missy, the artist and owner is so friendly and welcoming. Her shop is great with lots of her own designs on that’s, hoodies, hats, stickers and more. You get a big welcome when you walk in and I bet Missy will give you any recommendations about where to visit while you’re in Park Circle.

Stopping at local shops in a nice walkable area, we stumbled upon this gem. Missy, the owner, was amazing. Her designs are beautiful and we’re the perfect souvenir from Charleston that didn’t have the name and state plastered all over. Not to mention that everything was QUALITY! I wish there was more of an online store but because she’s a 1 woman show, instagram and in person are the ways to go. Everything there is beautiful!

Missy was an absolute delight! She made a customer guide to Park Circle to help folks get around, no charge, no fuss. The products are super high quality and the artwork is excellent. We're from out of town, and she really made us feel welcome! I already love my new water bottle. Can't recommend this place enough for a nice shop and quality items.

One day I was google searching for octopus images. My almost 4yr daughter is in love if them. Came across Black Octopus Mercantile. Clicked the link, instantly fell in love. I'm a basic girl living south of Cleveland. We have plenty of grey days. To see great casual beachy tshirts or hoodies (which I live in what feels like most of the time) I started following them on Instagram. Missy posted this amazing hoodie and I had to get it. Ordered it as a Christmas present. Missy called me (not many business do this anymore) it was great being able to chat with her like you would if you were at her store. After speaking with her I was sold. When my hoodie came in it was roomy, soft and the perfect shade of mustard. My daughter fell in love with mine, I had one made up like mine but slightly different. I can't wait for her to open it up Christmas morning. I will recommend Black Octopus to anyone.

Love shopping at Black Octopus Mercantile at the Station in Park Circle. I enjoy being able to purchase T-shirts. Hoodies, and hats and other items with one of our own local artists unique designs on them. They by far are some of the most comfortable T-shirts and hoodies I have owned. I always get compliments about them and asked where did I purchase them. There are so many unique stickers, hand made ornaments, and journals with unique designs on them, as well as many other items, that it makes buying gifts for someone a pleasure.
