This location is by far the best store in Charleston. It's has bright lighting (to ensure that you aren't purchasing stained clothes or broken items), it's well organized and clean with a large variety of everything. My only issue is customer service, there is always one cashier working which makes for a very long wait (if you're inclined to stand there).

UPDATE...

I am traveler and I love thrift shopping and bargain hunting. The Palmetto Goodwills in and around N. Charleston are the best.

My only problem is the location on Rivers Ave. It is the worst. The store is always dark and its extremely unorganized with items that should be thrown in the trash.

People are nice. I was able to drop off my donation with barely getting out of the car!
They're pretty organized. Bring new things out nicely and prices are clear and very reasonable. Have a lot of clothing. I was looking for a wall cabinet or small furniture but pickings were slim.

I think a ben should be put in for putting recycled store bages, for shoppers to use. Most customers forget bags, and this not only will help your shoppers, but the Environment🤗

Computers down again. $40 of merchandise had to be cash only. Merchandise put in "hold" location until I get back with cash. On return , items were not there. Very disappointed. Most working there are nice people and very accommodating.

my mom and i went to this goodwill yesterday and the 1 AND ONLY cashier lady was very rude never said welcome to goodwill or anything so mom and i walked around and a few things and mom went to the truck so i went to check out there was this gentlemen in front of me and she was ringing up his items and she was so damn slow and very slow at bagging his items and he paid she didn't say ty for shopping at goodwill or have a good day.... this goodwill has gone to hell since it moved to ashley phosphate they use to be on dorchester rd and they were so nice and friendly

So I went to take a couch that was in decent shape (one small tear that was covered by the cushion). The lady tells me that I will have to unload it myself and take it in the building. So I say no problem. After I have unloaded it she starts checking it and say we can't take trash like this because of the tear. I respond by saying that the cushion covers the tear and that they have sold stuff worse than this. She tell me that management told them that they can't take trash like this and that I need to load my trash and leave. This is not what the goodwill is designed for it is supposed to help others learn job skills and help people that are less fortunate but obviously this store does not follow this way.

I bought a few puzzles and some house hold items. I paid about $5 more than expected. Compared to the Goose Creek Good Will, it is not as organised as the Goose Creek Good Will.

The absolute worst experience in a store...ever..item did nor have a price so they would not let me buy it...OK I will come back tomorrow ....drove all the way back...was looked at like I was a pain...asked if the item had been priced...told I don't know! When I leave it all goes back to the back of the store...asked manager Asia about the item....was told " I didn't work yesterday... Just wait..." She never came back...asked a helpful man kieth...he did go back and ask....came to me and told me they got rid of it!!!! It was new and I know I just waisted all of my time getting the run around and being lied too....I with not return to the Ashley phosphate location again....

I've been a frequent shopper at this particular goodwill since they've opened. Until today I had fairly good things to say about it, the store is clean and most of the staff has been friendly. Today though I found an item on the shelf I was very interested in purchasing, but it didn't have a price sticker on it. I took it up to an employee who took it to the back to see if it could get priced. She said the girl was busy and I expressed how interested I was in buying it, regardless of price. They could have slapped any old price tag on it and I would have taken it home. Instead, after thirty minutes of waiting for the girl to get around to it, I was out of luck. The same employee said that she would not be pricing it today and refused to let me purchase it. I've never had such foolishness happen to me before when I"m trying to spend money somewhere. I'm terribly disappointed. I do not plan on returning to this store.

Was pretty impressed with the actual building and organization. Wasn't impressed with the staff. Maybe offer some training to them when they feel the need to follow someone around the store they think, for whatever reason, is going to steal, to do so subtly. Not stand right beside them and stare at them for 20 minutes. It's weird and creepy, and pretty offensive.

The new location kid of sucks. Yes it's new, but everything is so cramped! Trying to maneuver around the store with a card was nearly impossible. Every turn is sharp and everyone is in everyone else's way. Setup was really odd. They should've built a bigger store, or not put so much still in this one. Definitely prefer the older one on dorchester.

Pretty good. I always get an itchy feeling in Goodwill, but that's not limited to this location. They organize clothing items by color rather than size which can make finding items more difficult. However, if you are a re-seller you may benefit from this.
