Breakfast and Brunch! We are Dickson Local Coffee Roasters
Lots of fun events weekly! Come play Pin Ball
Come for the coffee, not the food. We got a pour over and a cortado. The cortado was fine, it seems like maybe they used a darker roast than they should have for a cortado. My pour over was good- I wasn't given any bean options but I really liked the dark roast they used for it. The food was definitely the downfall, did not at all resemble the photos or really even the ingredients listed. Avocado toast came out with super brown avocado that definitely tasted rotten, only had pickled onions (no greens or olive oil and i added the pepper once it got to the table) and they forgot my fried egg ($2 up-charge for 1 fried egg) but they did bring that out when i let them know it was missing. It was supposedly on sourdough but I think it was more of just a sliced white bread. Breakfast burrito wasn't anything to ride home about but it was nice that they have vegan sausage substitute. I would just skip the food and only get coffee. I will say it seems like they may be running short staff. In total, before tip, it was $39 for two coffee drinks and our food.
I wish i liked this place more because the atmosphere really is super chill with lots of natural light- potential to be a great spot. Based on the other reviews, it's a bummer to see the owner arguing with folks on their experience that seems to be a consistent experience for customers, so I'm hoping this review doesn't get that same response as it was our honest experience.

The 2 sandwiches we got were ok, they didn’t have tomatoes for a BLT sandwich. They Ran out of soup before 1:00 they were also sending people away before 1:00 saying they were done serving lunch. Who turns away Customers? Serving hrs must NOT apply daily. Went back again worst, terrible food no lettuce or tomatoes for blt seriously? Go to the store before you open. Don’t waste your money.

The coffee drinks were good and the live music was nice, however, the food is way over priced and quality was not great! Our ham sandwich and egg salad sandwich came on a hamburger bun. Our grilled cheese was tiny and way over toasted to the point it was almost impossible to chew. The sandwiches come with chips or fruit cup. Even with all the grocery store close by, they were out of chips so we had to get fruit cups which was a very small cupcake liner with 2 extremely thin orange slices, a few grapes and a few blueberries. Not at all worth $14 per sandwich!

3rd Edit: Having to edit 3 times may lead one to think an establishment may be inconsistent. Let me brief by saying I regularly come to Dickson to visit but I'm not a daily patron, so I understand staffing and supplies may vary between visits. I was contacted by the owner after my initial review change, and they kindly requested more information. I appreciated their contact to better understand the concerns and later decided to stop in again. I decided to call ahead to see if there would be live music in the early morning to which they replied with the event schedule. My mom and I hustled to the shop where we were met with unwavering friendly service, and wildly improved food and coffee. With confidence, I will rate as a 4, but in my experience, it ranges between a 3 & 5.
I've had to update my review for 2 reasons. The first being: quality of food and drink have deteriorated dramatically in the last six months or so- supremely disappointing since this used to be the best coffee in town.
The second, and I might be alone in this but loud live music BEFORE coffee at 9-10am is alot. I've heard comments from others in the coffee shop stating it's very overestimating- and I agree. The talent and music is GREAT but can we all agree timing is key?? As for myself, I love a low key morning just chatting with a friend and sipping on coffee. A live acoustic guitar, something mellow would be far superior to "who let the dogs out" at 9:30am. Truly these are talented musicians, just save the loud vocals for a more appropriate time like lunch/dinner.

Took a friend for lunch, we thought local, quaint, let's try it. Well, disappointed doesn't begin to describe. As we walk in, the front door standing wide open in the heat, the A/C was on, flies everywhere. When I stepped up to the counter to make my order, I looked in the glass case that had pastries in it thinking those look so good, we'll have to get something sweet after. That is until I saw all the flies in the case landing on those pretty pastries. I told the young lady at the register, she said yeah we know .... just like it was no big deal. Then the food came and it was quite disappointing. Honestly seeing the sign on the counter saying they need a manager, I see why. I just hope someone can manage it into being a better place to eat. Sadly, it will take a lot of improvement to get me to go back.

When you think Coffee Shop, Pumphrey and Bread nailed it! They roast their own bean and serve up a delicious cup. We score the drip a 8.7 and the espresso 8.9!! The Honey Breve Latte with CBD Honey hits at a 9.0! If you're within an hour of Dickinson, TN, this is a must visit Coffee Shop!!

Use to prefer coffee here over Starbucks! The inability to make a breakfast bowl correctly consecutively has forced me to just save my money. Yes, I have experience running a business. My review changing is the result of numerous visits with error and unfortunately, after todays visit and the attitude of the cashier and the fact that they claim that the phone hasnt rung after I called and left voicemail twice. I hope they make the necessary changes

I have been to this coffee shop multiple times over 3 years and every time I leave disappointed. The coffee always tastes bitter and burnt, the staff are unfriendly and not trained properly. They enforce the no outside food or drink on some customers and not others even if you are only there to pickup and leave. There is no more than 1-3 employees ( if you re lucky) working at a time and they even leave nervous untrained high school students unattended to make food/drinks. I wanted to support local businesses and give Pumphreys multiple chances but I just cant waste my money on this place anymore.

My husband and I are moving to the area and we love to support local businesses but we have learned to read other reviews as we have been to many not so good places. When I first looked at the website and menu for Pumphrey and Beard, I was excited. The menu items sounds delicious. Several good options for coffee too. I loved finding out that everything is local. Then I turned to the reviews and that excitement turned into hesitancy. I get there are some people that give bad reviews just to leave bad reviews and they shouldn t because they are not helpful at all. I was more concerned with how the owner responded to those reviews. I appreciate that he responds, but they were very rude and unprofessional. There are more professional ways to tell someone why items are out, or explaining the staffing issue. We went here regardless thinking we just want good food. And the food was good. I got the breakfast burrito and it was really good. My husband got the salmon biscuit, he said it was a smaller than he thought it would be and the biscuit was very dense, but it was good. The coffee and mocha were very good. Overall, we would come back and eat here again, just wish the owner was a little more professional when responding to reviews.

As a lover of black coffee, I m always on the hunt for convenient sources of good, freshly-roasted coffee beans. Decided to buy some beans from Pumphery & Beard to try, and I m very glad that I did! They had 2 choices available - a Brazilian, and a Peaberry, which I don t know a lot about, but the barista said had more caffeine. I went with the Brazilian, and it is excellent! Seems to be a light to medium roast, and was very fresh and quite sweet! I really like it. I d be interested to know more about the particular variety. It s awesome that Dickson has an excellent local coffee roaster! Really cool that they have the roaster right there in the front of the store where everyone can see it! Kudos to the roaster!! Can t wait to have another cup in the morning!

Edit: A descaling protocol would do wonders for the espresso now. Visited 2 days in a row and purchased 2 separate espresso-based drinks. Both beverages tasted stale. Its either old oils built up in the equipment or limescale buildup. Either way, a descaling would fix it right up. Still great staff and great food. Just need to keep standards up on the espresso. Original: Accurately priced, friendly staff, decent espresso. The milk was a little scalded, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience worth the visit.

Amanda and her team were so thoughtful and detailed in their attention given to our event. She was fantastic to plan and work with. So many of our guests commented how perfect and fun the venue is. We played pinball, played music, and the food was amazing! The service was great. Food came out quickly and everyone had what they needed throughout the event. Thank you, Pumphrey & Beard for making our event even better than we knew it could be! Vegetarian options: Absolutely delicious food. Many vegetarian and pescatarian options. Dietary restrictions: We had a few guests who are gluten free and there were many tasty options available for them.

Always my favorite place to go for coffee, food, and lovely people in Dickson, Tennessee. Pumphrey and Beard has raised the bar on what a coffee shop can and should be. They continually improve by adding more and more options for dining, entertainment, and atmosphere. The staff is amazing!! They take the time to get to know their customers and treat you like family. My children love coming here. They have cultivated a space for every age group and definitely family friendly. The owners are two of the kindest, most genuine people I ve ever met. I cannot say enough good things about this capstone of excellence in our community. The food is delicious, the coffee just right, and if you re looking for a place to feel at home in a cozy environment, this is the place to be! It s also a great place to get work done. I work from home and often break the monotony by setting up at Pumphrey and Beard. Best mobile office in town. Dietary restrictions: They are always willing to substitute or accommodate eating plans and dietary restrictions. They do their best to include everyone. Kid-friendliness: I ve been bringing my ten-year-old here since he was about seven and he loves it. He asks to go all the time. They make him feel so special. Definitely kid and family friendly.

Weird vibes and awful food. I think they have good intentions, but its just not good. Honey butter chicken description sounds good, but the reality is flavorless chicken breast on gummy potato puree. If they put more effort into the food and less into the wannabe hipster aesthetic they might be decent.

My wife and I used to love to come to this place, but the last few visits we were terribly dissatisfied. Our latest outing here will be our last. Everything we wanted to order they were out of. It was so frustrating. I can understand being out of an item or two, but the staff literally had a list at the front counter of all the things they didnt have, and that was a mile long. Our question is, why are you even open when you dont have anything available on your menu? Either just close or shorten your menu. It really is such a shame because Dickson has so few places like this. It could be a really great place if they would just have the things on their menu available to customers! And like I said, it really used to be an enjoyable place but we will never go back. Not sure what happened, but weve crossed it off our list. Ended up going across the street to another place that actually had everything on their menu available.

Cute coffee shop on the Main Street in Dickson with a fun and eclectic decor. We arrived at a busy time on a Sunday morning, but there was still seating available. We ordered a couple of breakfast sandwiches and waffles and were advised it would be a 30-40 minute wait on the kitchen. An hour later, our food had still not arrived and we had to leave to make another engagement in Nashville. The staff was clearly not equipped to serve food with any efficiency, even for basic orders. Many menu items were unavailable, including basic items from the coffee/drink menu. Unfortunately, the chai lattes we consumed while waiting were probably among the worst weve ever experienced, with virtually no flavor to speak of. We likely just had some bad luck on a busy morning, but there are a lot of other options in this category that are consistently better.

Been going since it was a teeny little booth holed up in a boutique! Always been a hidden gem. I was never a fancy syrup-y sweet coffee drinker, so this is a big level up from House Blend, especially as someone whos pallette has been used to home roasted, fresh coffee. Also love how theyve put so much work into livening up downtown! Not only by being open 7 days a week, but by constantly introducing new and interesting entertainment further than just (as well as including!) Live music every once in a while. If youre ever out any time of day its certainly a place to treat yourself to check out!

While a Nashville native, my wife of almost 15 years grew up in Dickson County. Needless to say, our travels have brought us through dowtown Dickson. Of course, House Blend is always a town favorite and frequent stop, but if I had my druthers, Pumphery & Beard is a better stop all around. The space is wonderfully decorated. It feels like Central Perk from TVs Friends, but somehow lighter (maybe because the fourth wall is floor to ceiling windows allowing for natural light to come in.) But ambience is only one thing you come to a coffee shop for. The other is the coffee and the third is the food. In full disclosure, I am a reformed Starbucks fanatic. Recently I have had to venture out to find places for an extrovert to work remotely, mainly coffee shops, so I have discovered the errors of my palette. That being said, I am by no means an expert, but I will say, their coffee is a delight. Perfectly roasted and very flavorful. Lastly, the food at P&B is awesome. The menu is far more extensive than HB. I had the popular breakfast burrito (nicely recommended by the staff I might add) and it did not disappoint. I had the sausage in mine. I dont know where they are sourcing their sausage, but it is an absolutely amazing blend of herbs and spices that is quite different from any I have tried. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and there was a nice crisp to the tortilla wrap holding in all of this goodness. The hash potatoes served with it were also fantastic and different! So delicious! I will definitely be working this in to my rotation. Wish they would move closer to my house, but Id make a special trip for sure.

Pumpkin muffin was absolutely delicious. One of the best Ive ever. The barista however was another story. It was clear by her attitude that she hates her job and doesnt seem to like dealing with people. The other issue I had was that while the environment was warm and inviting, it was hard to enjoy while sitting down and conversing with my daughter because the music was just SO loud. Also did not appreciate their politics as pointed out by reviewer, Patty Patriot.

I love this place! Such a relaxed vibe, & the drinks & food are amazing. The lattes Ive gotten arent too sweet at all, & the smoked salmon biscuit is to die for! The scones were soft & crumbly, not hard or chewy... Top notch!

What a great ecletic coffee/tea shop in a small town like Dickson. The new location is awesome and hours are great. Customer service is fantastic at the counter and for food service. I am primarily a tea person, specifically the Iced Chai Tea latte with almond milk is my fav (they can make with any preferred milk). I like to chill, read my Kindle and drink tea here often. Be aware that the to-go cup uses a straw-less lid cup for those who might need to know, considering the woman who lost her mind regarding the lack of straws in a previous review, I thought I would provide that insight. Overall, a nice new coffee hang-out that is not entirely overrun with teens even though there is a skateboard shop housed within the same area.

If you like coffee, this is the place to go. There are other places that serve coffee in the area, but there are none that roast, make, and care about the taste of their coffee. In the evening or for brunch, they even have some good beer choices too.

Loved this place! Decor and ambiance is very cool. Food was great! Im not a huge coffee drinker, but I did give that a go. When the lady saw I didnt drink much of it, she actually asked to make me something different that I may like better. And I loved what she made for me. WOWED by that customer service and that she genuinely cared that I was pleased with every aspect of my visit to their place. We will definitely be back!

One of a kind! We stayed for hours while my wife got spa services at Bloom. We have a 2 year old and 5 month old and they had coloring books, a booth for reading for all ages and wonderful coffee and hot chocolate. High cotton shop is in the back and it s a wonderful place to walk out of the cold for hours if you want. There s something for everyone and the barista was friendly and easy going. Can t recommend enough!

The best coffee! They roast it in house and the service here is amazing! Nicest staff ever. They also have a lot of creative coffee and tea options on the menu. Plenty of milk alternatives. Clean bathroom available. No changing table for baby though.

This new coffee shop is a true gem in our perfect little town. Not only is the coffee beyond incredible, the baristas are knowledgeable, engaging, & always remember your order when walk thru the door. The owner, Amanda is a phenomenal business woman who is knowledgeable about sourcing the best beans all while making a bigger impact on the world. Stopping in to Pumphrey & Beard is a highlight of our day, and we are so grateful to have met everyone involved!

this place is absolutely magical. The coffee is great and its REAL. They do have sugary coffees there but you can truly tell they put their hearts into making their coffee. I love this place and would highly recommend it. ;)
