Such a poorly run store! I’m absolutely floored that Joann Corporate does not know (or care?) how massively understaffed they are. Every time I go in, the line is super long and there is one or maybe two people working. One at the register, one at fabrics and one person working the whole rest of the store. For a store this size, that’s crazy! A friend’s daughter works there and said the problem isn’t not having people to hire, or keeping employees. it’s that corporate wont spend more money on employees! They are cheaping out on labor to save money, and it will be their downfall. Everyone will just go somewhere else. Get your head out of your *** Joann Corporate! Look at all the 1 star reviews. You need to make a good shopping experience because people have a lot of other choices.

I would give 0 stars If I could. I waited in the check out line for 40 min to see about my online order. Sarah and Megan were so unbelievably rude.Megan said the district manager couldn’t care less about customer complaints and all will go unnoticed. after that comment I will never, ever stepping foot in a Joann’s again. Without customers like me, Joann’s won’t be in business. Glad Joann’s is circling the drain.

Visited on 12/15. The store looked like it was hit by a tornado. Shelves almost empty, product thrown all over the place. The fabric counter had 75 -100 bolts of fabric piled high like a fortress. The checkout line had 15+ customers in it with one cashier. When another customer asked the manager if they could get another register open, the manager, who was clearly stressed, irritatedly told her that there were only 3 employees in the whole store. One of the last weekends before Christmas and somehow the store didn’t plan to have enough employees. I do want to say that the cashier was amazing and kind. She was frazzled but thanked everyone for their patience and worked as efficiently as she could. From what I heard in line, this store is always understaffed. I won’t be back to this location.

Received the email that my items were ready for pickup only to be told by staff when I got there that they “couldn’t find” 90% of my order. Drove over 15 minutes with a screaming infant for a 50 cent product. Ridiculous. If that’s allowed then the customer should also be allowed to cancel anytime, including at the time of pickup, with no penalties.

Just buy a machine directly from the maker’s website because if you try to get one here, not only do you have to wait in the checkout line (which was 40 minutes today), you’ll have to wait in the fabric cutting line as well (which was around the same time). Even if you know exactly which machine you want to buy. Super rude manager, never buying from this location again.

I wish I could leave zero stars. The lines in this place are outrageous. I waited 35 minutes to get fabric cut and am now on 40 additional minutes to check out. I was next in line to check out when one of the two checkers took off to help people find things. Are you kidding me!?!? Don’t waste your entire day here… go somewhere else.

I really try to avoid going here. They have misleading sales and missing prices, which leads to excruciatingly long checkout lines. At the checkout today I was told that the sign advertising a sale on thread applied to some other thread than the thread it was directly in front of. I was not surprised because there is always something like this. The fabric cutting counter was quick and efficient today, the worker said she was new. At the checkout the line was already long when a checker just stopped and walked around inside and outside the store until the other cashier called for help. If this was her break it was way too short. Every customer in front of me had to use digital coupons because this is how you have to shop at Joann to avoid getting ripped off. It's hard to load the coupons because the cell reception inside is so bad and it slows things down a lot. It's always miserable and I will continue to avoid JoAnn whenever possible.

I typically order items online to pick up. Each time I have had to go directly into the store as they never come out for curbside pickup, even though I mark curbside pickup. After even going into the store you have to go directly through the line which today I've been in line about 20 minutes before even getting to the register. When I got to the register there was over 20 people behind me in line. They had one cashier, at least she was polite once I got to the register after she got off the phone. Her name was Laurie and she was helpful. Finally, as I'm at the register, a second cashier comes.
Due to health reasons, I often need to do the curbside pickup and don't want to have to pay for the shipping costs. If they're not able to support curbside pickup, they should not offer this to their customers.
It's been like this for over a year at this store. In particular here in Draper. They need to hire or pay their employees better so that they can retain employees. Especially during these High/ Busy seasons like fall and winter. If you put these high stress type workloads on your employees, they're not going to want to stay. This employee was having to deal with this many people along with answering a phone that kept ringing.

They always have good stuff most of their staff is amazing but one older lady with white hair is super mean. I got yelled at for coming in to grab 1 item 10 minutes before closing by a heavier built woman in her 60s with a tattoo on her arm. She wouldn't give me her name but she should be reprimanded because her attitude was totally uncalled for! It took me 40 seconds to grab what I needed and was still out well before the store closed. I can't believe she yelled at me. Aside from this I love this store.

The customer service in this place is horrendous! The check out lines are the slowest I have ever seen. There is always one cashier, despite there being several workers not busy helping customers. The one cashier is also always answering the phone and having to run off to talk to someone. I placed an order for pick up and about an hour or hour and a half later I drove over to see if it was ready (both items were small and in stock at the store). I even had to buy an extra item and when I was ringing up said item (after waiting in line forever behind one person) I asked about my order and the cashier went to look for me and came back saying they couldn’t get it for me till 11am the next day! I had already been through the store and had seen the two items I had ordered! I decided to go pick my items myself and brought them back to the register and the cashier was ringing up another customer and IN THE MIDDLE of ringing this lady up the cashier gets on her radio and starts talking about if she can go on break and that she didn’t get a break the previous shift yada yada, holding up the line and stopping in the middle of ringing someone up to so do so! Like… what the hell? The cashier gets swapped out and I come up to the register and the cashier says I have the wrong paint but tells me where the one I want is and doesn’t offer to help me find it, despite saying she knows where it’s located. I go get the right paint (finding it was a hassle because their paints are weirdly placed). So I end up finding all of my own items that I ordered, that they supposedly wouldn’t have been able to get for me till the next day. It’s truly ridiculous and watching employees walk by and not offer to help anyone or help check people out when they’re waiting for 20 plus minute when there’s only 2 or 3 people in line.. with only a couple items each…

They usually have what I need and the cashier's are always nice. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with someone in the sales floor. I had come to get just two skeins of yarn in different colors, and one of the colors I needed was out on the sales floor. I saw a few skeins up on the wall and the sign that said "please ask associate for assistance". So, I saw someone walking past the aisles and I asked her. At first she told me that "anything on the wall is already on the sales floor." I said "oh no sorry, I checked and there's none there. Is there another display of [yarn brand]?"
She then begrudgingly walked me back over to the wall where she seemed extremely annoyed that she had to do her job and grab one skein of yarn for me. She didn't even have to bring over the big step ladder, it was on the lowest shelf and she was tall.
I thanked her, and decided to ask if they had any of the Halloween yarn in stock. Once again very annoyed, she said "No. If it's not on the sales floor I don't have it."
I thanked her and left, deciding it was not worth it to explain that I was asking if they had it *on the sales floor anywhere*.

Joann, your employees clearly hate their jobs. You should pay them more, maybe they wouldn't take it out on the customers as much 🤗

All the employees today were great, especially with how busy it was. It is disappointing to see how understaffed the store was on what's should be expected to be a busy day.

The reason for the low rating was that all of the fabric was on sale for labor day and when I used my coupon, I was told that they're actually doorbuster sales so the coupon wasn't valid. When you say you have a "doorbuster sale" I assume I can used my coupon that's valid for sale items. It feels like a bait and switch and super shady.

Bathrooms here were horrendous. Shopping with my little boy needing to use the bathrooms that have clearly been disgusting for a long time. I asked to speak with the manager that was "too busy" and the store clerk when notified of the state of the bathrooms said "I know". Lack of care for the store in general. You can tell the workers are saddened to work here and it really is a shame to have a store in such sad conditions.

Vikings Sewing Machines service and sales at JoeAnns Fabric store in Sandy UT is a great place to purchase a Viking Sewing machine and receive amazing experienced help with repairs and adjustments.
I purchased a Viking machine about 7 years ago. It has run like a top for all those years. Yesterday the bobbin and tension stopped working. I took it in to Viking Sewing Machine service at JoeAnns Fabric at the Draper Utah store. Gayla helped me get the bobbin case back in that I had removed. She replaced the needle with a new one, adjusted the tension on the front dial to the proper settings. She gave me a small tool and brushed to keep the bobbin case clear of dust. No charge. Great service. I highly recommend Viking Sewing Machines and Gayla for service you may need to keep your machine working. She will explain the function of the machine you need to know snd understand.
They also have a repairman for major cleaning and repairs. This is what I call real customer service. ❤⚘❤⚘❤⚘❤

I did purchase bobbins and a new pack of needles for general use. I wasn't sure what size but Gayla did. Thanks Gayla.

JoeAnns has great fabric and hobby, crafts supplies for most home crafters. It's a great all around one stop shop for craft and Viking sewing machines. Great place!!

I usually have a normal experience here, not great but not bad. Until I decided to place an order of yarn. I got around 8 or so skeins of yarn, two different brands and I ended up not thinking one of the two brands was gonna work for me so I drive all the way to the Draper location on a Saturday just for them to tell me they won’t be able to refund it back to my card and that they can give me store credit. I don’t want store credit for $30 worth of yarn, who knows how long it’ll be until I need new yarn?? They said it was because their system hasn’t received confirmation that it was delivered. My package was delivered the day before. I’m sorry but isn’t that the dumbest system?? I obviously have the items and you’re telling me you can’t do the refund back to my card bc the system won’t let you but you can give me store credit? So I wait a few days and went back today Wednesday 8/7/24 thinking surely their system has updated. Well it has BUT they still won’t refund it to my card. They told me that their system does this sometimes and just won’t refund the amount onto your original payment. Oh but they can give me store credit. So I made two trips to Joann just to not get my money back. Not refunding me is literally stealing. This should be illegal. I went home and called customer service and guess what, they IMMEDIATELY gave me a refund AND I don’t have to return the yarn to them or the store. So this one star is for this Draper location employees, do better. 5 stars to the agent I talked to through customer service. I won’t be purchasing from Joann again. I’ll gladly go to Michael’s or anywhere else.

Rude customer service. Unfriendly employees. I took my number and waited on line. The employee cutting the fabric it was alittle busy and she called back up. The girls who came to help and was extremely rude. I asked her to cut my fabric 2 different sizes. She was doing until the last 2 rolls she told me she couldn't do it any more and slam the roll she was cutting. She was using the electronic scissors and I was folding my own cut fabric to help her but she denied cutting my fabric any more. No wonder Joanns file chapter 11, the service is horrible and unpleasant I asked her I wanted to talk to her manager and she told me she was the manager. I told her that's not true and she told me her manager is busy so she is the manager. The was working around 1pm on Sunday and also has a speech impediment. I will start shopping local. I will not pay a corporation to receive bad customer service.

The woman who worked in the fabric department on 07/06/24 at around 6pm was extremely rude. I’m making 2 blankets, that need 2 yards of fabric each, so 4 yards total. When I asked for 4 yards total but cut in two yards each she immediately became very rude, rolling her eyes and saying she couldn’t cut that. I asked why and she threw her hands up in the air and said “because she said she wont”. I said asked for clarification again and she said she can’t cut it because “people come in with fabric they’ve already bought and ask her to cut it and it becomes a problem”. I don’t get how that’s relevant because that’s not what I’m asking her to do. She then told me that she would give me 2 yards total and I could “cut it myself”. I said I needed 4 yards and she told me “oh well, this is all I’m willing to do for you”.

I left the store with half the fabric I needed because she refused to cut me more. I should have gotten management involved but I have bad anxiety and had spent 3 1/2 hours already in store picking out this fabric- that she literally refused to give me the amount I needed. She made me incredibly embarrassed and anxious, talking down to me for simply asking to get fabric cut- which seems to be her job. I’ve never had this problem cutting fabric at any other Joann’s.

She was very rude right off the bat. She’s a very unpleasant, unkind, unhelpful person.
I told the cashier the woman cutting fabric was very rude and she said yeah, I know- leading me to believe she’s like this all the time.

I’m literally on my way to another Joan’s location to get more of the exact same fabric I just got because she refused to give me more, even though there was plenty more on the roll.

You might as well have an employee with you while you shop. They got security locks on 8$ items, then they have to carry it up front for you to make sure you pay I get the sewing machine walk that up sure but 8$? I felt so weird having an empty cart to the register. I’m good on this place.

Every single time I go into this store I want to offer cleaning services. During Covid they had their employees at the door monitoring mask wearing but standing on a filthy floor and in a dirty store environment. They need to power wash where the carts go and the floor corners. Trash is outside too from the wind, but still.. pick it up. I find myself going less and less & only buying things on big sale bc the prices asked for cute items do not match the quality this store is representing. Does this place have a manager? Honestly shopping here is a major hassle, and if you can, DO NOT CHOOSE CURBSIDE PICK UP. The employees are dismissive (with the exception of the young girl with red hair). This the the busiest time of year and they have one lady on the register who although kind, is extremely slow. The line gets VERY long and none of the employees seem to care or try to do anything about it. I’ve been here twice over the last few weeks and it’s been like this both times. There are several employees in the store but management seems poor as the people don’t seem to be where they are needed. I REPEAT DO NOT CHOOSE CURBSIDE PICK UP. You’ll die in your car from waiting.

Unsafe environment and horrible management practices. I’m sure with the busy black Friday weekend that it’s been tricky being staffed well enough. However, today while I was in line to check out, there was only one register open. The line was pretty short but began piling up as the cashier was not at his post while trying to retrieve an online order for several minutes. It wasn’t a big deal, we were all patiently waiting and giving a lot of grace to the employee’s circumstances despite the inconvenience. The cashier returned and continued the check out process. Again, an online order needed to be retrieved and we all continued waiting. Meanwhile, the line began piling up a bit more, and I noticed the employee coughing a few times. When it was time for me to check out, I smiled at the employee and asked how he was doing. I acknowledged that he must be having a busy day and the weekend must have been totally busy for him. He then complained to me that it was, and that he has been sick with COVID the entire time while working there! I was shocked. I told him kindly that I was sorry he was sick but that I was glad he was there to help us all check out. He replied “I’m not.” I thanked him again and told him I hope he feels better. There are so many young mothers and elderly people coming in and out of this store, and I would have hoped that the management here would have found some alternative way to keep this employee away from interacting directly/hands on with customers, regardless of the illness. I am very disappointed in 1) the management’s decision to have this employee continue working at the cash register; and 2) the employee’s choice to respond negatively to a customer attempting to be gracious and kind despite the circumstances. Would have loved to have a conversation with management about this one but I don’t trust after this that much will be done about it.

Keep your purchases to the crafting section. Grabbed a Mountain Dew on my way out for the drive home. Tasted funny after the first few swigs and checking the date showed 2 months expired. Felt nauseous that night. When returning I found 3 different soda flavors were all expired in their fridge. Poor shelf control by JOANN management.

This store always disappoints. Their website is never updated, so be prepared to have your order canceled anytime. Online shopping is the most disappointing experience ever. In person shopping, is even worst, as the store is super disorganized and the staff is short, so unless you have plenty of time to look for what you want, go somewhere else.

I just ran into pick up something my daughter had ordered online. The shelves were kind of empty from what I could see and they were very short staffed. Everyone who worked there seemed to have a very positive attitude so it wasn't an awful visit or anything. They just could use some more help in the store and maybe restock their shelves

Severely understaffed (just like everything else) they are still running their after Christmas 70% off ad & it is 2/5.

Because of the staff shortages the Draper store was extremely frazzled-not dirty just messy. Fabric needs to be rewound on bolts & straightened-books we're out of place. Found what I was looking for no problem.
There were 2 ladies cutting/putting away & only 1 at register. 15 minute waits at 6 pm on Sat night in both lines

This store is so dirty. I gave the benefit of the doubt because Halloween was coming up. Then again because Christmas and what not. But it’s now almost the end of January and the store looks worse than it did in October. Nothing is organized, there’s tons of product on the ground and a ton is out of stock, and the floor is actually covered in dirty and dust. I wish it was better because this is the closest store, but I’m willing to drive farther just to go to a clean store. I will happily take down this review if the problem is fixed. Thank you.

Joann’s always seems to have what I’m looking for! My favorite is their online order/curbside pickup! I have stopped by after work for instore purchasing, but the checkout line is always very long and slow and they close promptly at 8:00 and (fare warning) they are adamant about it. But I have no problems with ordering online and picking it up myself.

It's Joanns so you know what to expect. Crafts and fabrics of every variety. There's something about this one though that makes it feel like the dirtiest Joanns I've ever been too. Could be the old display shelves, the layout, or even the lighting.

It has nothing to do with the employees. The owners just genuinely seem to refuse to invest into the upkeep of this location.

If I could give this a zero I would, my Joanns in Orem didn’t have the fabric I needed because they only had two yards and it was “lost” so I’m already pretty upset, but at least they tried to help me find it. I came to the Draper location because on the app it said 5 yards were still available. A big portion of the fabric section is SO cluttered, it looks like the bolts were just thrown on the shelves and the fabric is all over the place. I asked for help and no one even tried, I came here twice asking for help and they just point me in the general direction of what I just came from or just refuse to even look. Why is everyone so angry at this store??? They are just horrible

Not very happy. I have zero experience with fabric and have been wanting to order printed fabric online for some curtains I need made. I went into the store today to look at and compare my options and there was one person helping the entire department. Since there were so many people that needed help, you had to get a ticket with a number on it and wait to be called for your turn. I did just that and get up to the lady for assistance and instead of really helping me she just pointed me off to the entire apparel fabric section. I go over thinking that the three fabrics I asked about would be there specifically named for me to find and look at. I spent a good 10 minutes looking through all the fabrics trying to find the 3 I was trying to look at but none of the fabric was named the same as the screenshots I had from my options online. I have no experience or knowledge with fabric. I went back over to the lady and she ignored that I still needed help and continued to call the numbers next in order expecting me to get a new number ticket to be helped again. I had already waited my turn. I took my lunch break to go there and left with nothing. Complete waste of my time. This store needs more people helping on the floor for those that have little knowledge and need more assistance as I did.

I felt like I was in a dirty K-Mart from the '80s. I get that there's 40% off coupons but the prices are ridiculous. The clearance aisle had items that were beat up and priced at what they should have originally been priced brand new.

I just hate how the best deals have to be ordered on line and shipped or curbside pickup. I would think curbside pick up would be so frustrating to the employee's. This is one of the most untidy Joanns I have been in s long time. The store looked as though it was going out of business. None of the fabric was draped on the bolts and it was very plain no decorated displays like I am used to seeing at the local Joanns. It was a little disappointing. But I am sure its due to short staffing as all franchises are using that excuse now.

During my hour plus trip the store was okay, clean and well stocked considering the times. Not every employee said hi or even acknowledged me, but that's okay because they're pretty busy.

There was only one cashier for many people, but she was great. Sara was so kind, quick, and helpful. The 5 stars is mainly for her customer service.

I'd give the store in general a 3.5.

Great selection of fabrics! They have walls of fabric and I found what I needed to repair a dress. However, the old ladies that cut the fabric have some serious attitude and are SO condescending. I hate asking them to cut fabric because they make me feel so dumb when I ask questions. I would recommend hiring friendly associates, especially when it’s in the fabric department, the biggest seller.

I love almost all Joann fabric and craft stores: friendly, helpful associates, good stock, fun classes. I especially enjoy the stores that have a Viking Husvarna sewing machine store inside. I have decided after talking w the lady in the embroidery machine department, I will never buy a machine at Joann's. When I told her what machine I had the response of when you come in to Upgrade, you can take some classes.
First, whether I use a Brother or any other embroidery machine, it shouldn't be looked down upon when I'm asking questions.
Second, I have never felt bad about what machines I use, but she made me feel like I should.
I use a Singer machine to make bags & have several posted on Joann's app w followers.
