Love The Jar! I do only seem to get drinks or service in under 10 minutes when the tiny bartender is working, she's fantastic though! Great place to.visit and a must if you're in Dublin!

Came here and let me first say the Asian wings are on point!!! Also tried potato skins which came out hot with crunchy bacon and a bacon aoli. My burger was amazing. The honey teriyaki has more of a bourbon taste. My husband got the blackened mahi sandwich and it was dry. The customer service was amazing and the berry peach cider was delish. Not overly bubbly or sweet. Very drinkable. They serve salads but if your vegetarian then that's pretty much the only option. Found out the sports bar is down stairs (lower level entrance in the back) when I come back I will definitely stop by again especially for the wings and will hit the bar. Only have four stars because of the fish but please note they were willing to cook another and very helpful. Wish I could do like 4.8 stars!! It was very clean.

I don’t know how anyone could like this restaurants food it’s over garlic the burgers are like buckets of garlic dumped on them made my husband and one of my sons sick. I wish this place was sold to an actual great cook/cooks. And beware of the bar down stairs the bartenders favor certain customers and they allow their favorites to drink in their vehicle or truck I’ve seen it and many of my friends and family have seen this. The bartenders will lie on you if you’re not a favorite. I went there three times and was lied on from a bartender to a manager that I was coming in drunk falling over things which was a lie. I went in there for a few drinks and some beer after an appointment twice and I couldn’t believe what lies were told on me after asking some people who go there regularly about that story I was told that they never seen that coming from me. I usually go to higher end bars if in coming in from out of town working. The tables are always sticky and glasses don’t look clean. So might want to avoid this place I don’t trust them

I live near the mason jar and I bought some food tonight for the first time yuck get someone in there who knows how to cook I ordered the hamburger patties with gravy onion and mushroom it has so much garlic it almost made me sick the Cole slaw is like water can’t taste the mayo terrible no seasoning one reason I never got food there is because restaurants in the area are always bad and I will just continue making my own food I could run this place out of business if I cooked for there public. And NO I DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO WORKS THERE NEVER BEEN IN THERE NO HARD FEELINGS IM JUST stating facts as for Appetizers they are ok

This restaurant really made me whip out my phone specifically just to write this review. The seafood was very good and very FRESH. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked it was all amazing from the catfish to the shrimp basket. As a resident of South Carolina I will find a way to visit again in the future even if its out of my way. Highly recommend especially for seafood!

We visited on a Saturday around noon in early November 2024 for lunch after visiting Claytor Lake State Park just up the road. The Mason Jar is in between the Park and the main highway. We were honestly surprised by how many people where here.

We pulled into the only available spot in the parking right out front. There seemed to be more on the side/next door.

Staff was super friendly and helpful with taking out order to go. We wanted to get back on the road as we had a few hours of traveling to go before our next hotel stay for the night. They were very patient with inducive kids (and adults). Even let my youngest get a 50% pink lemonade and 50% starry combo for their drink.

We ordered the Pork Fritters which were very good with the orange sauce. The Chicken Chunks (Garlic Parmesan) were just meh and probably would not order again. Wife ordered the Country Cobb Salad and loved it. She got 2 different dressings to try, ranch and a raspberry vinaigrette I think... We also got The Southern Burger which my middle one gobbled up so I assume it was good as I didn't get a bite. My youngest got the Kid's Fried Shrimp with fries (comes with drink and apples). I also did not get to try any as it was gobbled up and I assumed it was picky kid approved. Also ordered the Cream of Crab Soup which was pretty good. Was hoping for some larger amounts of stuff in it. It was a bit more liquidity than I was expecting but made it easy to drink while driving. Also got the soup of the day which was Cajun Sausage Gumbo. It was definitely much more hearty and filling than the Cream of Crab. Both soups were a solid "good". I think I was expecting a little more soup for the cost. More of a value thing which was the same for the chicken chunks. They were okay but not worth the price.

Our food took maybe 15 mins to be prepared. There was seating inside and outside to wait. They also had merch for sale at the front counter including many cute earrings. We were also surprised by the quality of the takeout containers. Not the cheap styrofoam but he nice sturdy hard plastic. Works so much better for traveling with.

Bathrooms were also nice and clean and spacious. The wife also mention the nice helpfulness in the women's restroom. It would be nice if more establishments provided similar accommodations.

Other than the slight disappointment with the chicken chunks, we would totally come back again to eat if we were in the area visiting Claytor Lake State Park or even driving by at the right time on 81.

Over priced for very meh middle of the road food. The sweet tea itself was $3 let alone a sandwich was $14 or more, two can’t eat here for less than $40 and it’s nothing to write home about. Also the restaurant was pretty empty and the service was very slow.

My wife and I were camping at Claytor Lake State Park and had to run some errands. We stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch (it used to be a pizza joint but is now a food/sports bar under new ownership). The restaurant was clean and inviting, and the menu varied and interesting. My wife opted for the apple chicken salad, I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sub. Service was excellent, and the meals were tasty. The only issue of concern was the cost: about 45 bucks after a generous tip. However, we understand that under Bidenomics (election day can't get here fast enough), everyone in the supply chain is getting squeezed so prices necessarily have creeped up. We will definitely come back.

They don't have a bartender that can make drinks. The one making drinks is not a friendly person. The food is just okay. Some of the staff were friendly. The prices were a little high. We had been there a couple times and sometimes the food was okay and other times not so good. I do wish they had an actual bartender. Sometimes you just need to unwind with a drink after a hard day.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick bite 1/2 hour before closing on Sunday evening and were warmly greeted by a staff member. Our server, Emily, was lovely. So friendly and polite! It’s the little things that matter-those attention to details that make any dining experience special. When I asked her to hold the tomatoes on my sandwich, Emily also put the tomatoes for my salad on the side, assuming that I wouldn’t want them! In all of our years of dining, that’s never happened! Drinks were quickly replenished, and we were promptly asked if everything was to our liking. The Mason Jar is the kind of place that you hope to find on road trip-and this is why we always try to find a local spot when traveling. So much better than a chain restaurant or fast food!

Most of the online reviews we read mentioned the bar. We were just looking for dinner, so we were unsure about it. When we got there, we found out the bar was downstairs from the restaurant. We both had the salmon. The salmon was very good. We did find the dining room was a little noisy. I believe it is more from the building. Nothing to absorb the sound. We did not hear any of the bar sounds. I would recommend the Mason Jar for dinner.

The food is typically good here, but our last visit completely changed my mind. We were seated and greeted as usual, but when we ordered our food, they didn't provide us with any napkins or plates. The wings we ordered had no sauce on them, even though we clearly asked for mild buffalo wings. I had to ask the waitress for a side of sauce since there was none on the wings, and she returned with the smallest container of buffalo sauce. The atmosphere is nice, and the service isn't always this bad, but you have to do better than this.

Based on my personal taste, I didn't go 5 star. Others may love it like it is. I had Chicken and Waffles. I liked it a lot. I prefer a little spice offset by the sweet. That said, the Waffles had a great crunch and sweet flavor. The chicken was good but needs a little salt. All said, we really enjoyed it and will go back next time we are in the area.

Really enjoyed our experience here! It was really odd seeing a Maryland-style seafood place out in the middle of southern Virginia, but I'm glad we stopped through.

Their kitchen was behind on orders when we showed up, so we had to wait a few minutes to be seated, it really wasn't too long. The staff were very friendly, and our waitress was very attentive.

The menu looks a lot like what you'd find in Maryland. Not sure if the owners are from there or not, but clearly somebody is. The food came out fairly quickly and hot, and was very delicious; we all really enjoyed what we ordered. Among us we had the blackened catfish, crab cakes, chicken bites, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, and the crab cake sandwich.

If we're ever traveling down 81 again, this will definitely be a required stop.

My husband and I had dinner at The Mason Jar last night and the food and service were horrible. We’ve eaten there several times before so we were surprised that the quality of the food and service was not what it used to be. What’s changed Mason Jar owners?? There was barely any meat on the sandwiches and they tasted awful, the fries were overcooked, and we never received the appetizer we ordered. We paid alot more for our meal than it was worth that’s for certain. We could have had a better dinner at McDonalds. The restaurant was not busy so that was not the issue. Needless to say, we won’t be going back

What a great place! Emma was a terrific server... my wife and I were on a road trip, doing our best to eat healthy. The Mason Jar came up... we peeked at the menu... sold! And we were not disappointed. We each got the grilled chicken salad, and it was terrific. Uh, dang...trying to remember the real name of the salad. We each got the one with apple slices and bleu cheese crumbles.
And hey, after a mishap with my dish -- obviously just a fluke -- the manager took my dish off the bill. And I made sure to tip Emma (hope we remembered her name right) as if it was Not removed. I do not say that to brag, but just to make a point.
Servers go through A LOT: mostly people treating them like dirt: no eye contact, demanding things rudely, etc. Tip your server no less than 18%!! And make sure you remember to separate kitchen and chef mistakes from server mistakes. (And remember you make mistakes, too.)
No need to treat a server syrupy-sweet... just treat 'em like a friend who's helping you out.

This review is based on the price for the quality of the food. Had the food been half the price it was, this would of been 4 stars.

It was a mediocre experience to say the least. When I pay 14 dollars for a burger and fries, I’d expect the food to be high quality. It was not. My grilled onions were just burnt tip raw onions, the burger was not “ medium well” but rather just a small well done patty. Everything is dripping in sauce. Fries were good but what ever ketchup they use must be like the cheapest you can get from U.S foods or sysco because it was terrible and who knows how long it’s set there in the window backing in the sun. My son had some chicken that was not edible. I was thrown off because he loves chicken and was hardly eating it so we tasted it and the breading was just l straight salt. Id expect this sort of quality from somewhere that’s about half the price. And the wait staff was frazzled, one waitress was yelling across the room to one of her guest and our waitress actually slammed a high chair into my leg. Was pretty painful at the time, though I don’t really think she did it intentionally. All in all expect to have a mediocre experience I’m not really sure why these reviews are so positive. I will say that my wife said her food was great, so they can hit it 1/3 times I guess. Won’t be back. Cute little place except for the mildew growing above the POS. You think that with the prices they charge they could afford to patch the roof. Meh this experience left me SALTY to say the least.

First the waitress literally threw away our order slip after we were waiting for 30 min. Then came and did admit her error and took our order again. The food finally came after 50 min and it was subpar. The burgers were very small and mostly bun. The bun was dry and crumbling. They also had very little flavor. The philly cheese steak was bland. Then we waited another 30 min after we finished to get the check. In this price range there are just much better options close by.

Our family decided to take a quick trip for the holiday weekend! We LOVE supporting local & we found The Mason Jar! Let me tell you, Desiree was our server and she was phenomenal! Our 16 month old loved her and Desiree was amazing to her. She talked to our daughter every time she too came the table, played with her, and even held her! The food was so so good! This was our first time and we can’t wait to go back!

We didn't go to the The Mason Jar restaurant part. We went for ice cream and snow cones at their Trading Post building, which is right beside the restaurant/bar.
The customer service was spectacular. The atmosphere had a nostalgia feeling of the 1980s. No tvs or technology to be seen, which was awesome. Just a simple ice creamery and souvenir shop.
It has 4 to 5 tables inside to sit at and 3 picnic tables outside to sit at. Nice and clean. No trash or dirty tables.
The prices were affordable and the perfect amount of choices on the menu. Like I mentioned before, simple. The menu had ice cream or snowball to offer and that's it. So if your looking for a huge variety this place isn't for you but if your looking for a nice quiet simple place to get a treat then this place is for you.
They have a ice cream selection with one, two or three scoops, maybe 8 flavors. You had the choice of regular cone, waffle cone or a bowl. There were 6 different kinds of sprinkle choices for the ice cream.

They have snowballs or snow cones with 12 different flavors and three different sizes. I didn't have ice creamThe portions were huge for the price and dripping in flavor.
It was a wonderful place to visit to get a treat for the family.

The only drawback for me is the location of the bar right across the parking lot. Pretty close to each other.
I had my granddaughter with us and we sat outside at the picnic tables to enjoy our treat. I will just say it was quite entertaining watching the tipsy people come out to smoke, talk or make out with each other. One fellow came out to howl and then just walked right back into the bar. Another yelled at us asking if we had a lighter. A couple spent a bit of time up against the wall kissing and "connecting."
We laughed it off but there were a few uncomfortable. I will still bring my grandchildren here to get treats however I will do it a bit earlier next time to avoid the bar scene in the parking lot.

Food was great and service was as well. It was a little too warm inside for me but I like it cooler than most I guess. Everything was nice and clean.

Nice local restaurant. My wife and I had dinner while camping at Claytor Lake. Not fancy but the food and service were fine. My wife had the Chicken Chesapeake which is a grilled chicken sandwich with crab dip on top of the chicken -excellent!

My husband and I have ate here several times over the last year and last night by far was the worst.
We both got burgers mine was extremely dry which I thought was odd I have NEVER experienced that in the past. There was also a heavy garlic flavor in the meat, this was just unpleasant.
The fries were good.
The service was ok. Our overall from ordering food, receiving food then getting our bill and leaving took an hour and 45 minutes I have never had to wait that long in the past but it things happen.
It sad I always enjoyed the food and atmosphere but The Mason jar is going down hill in the last two months especially the food. Maybe they changed hands?

The cobb salad was mostly mixed greens, few diced tomatoes, cheese and grilled chicken which was excellently cooked, only 1 sliver of lemon 🍋 in the water. Restaurant was clean and so were restroom. Wrong dressing was given but when asked they brought the correct one. Lots of staff and people there.
We were headed to TJs but they were closed due to staff. This place makes a good steak sub we were told.

Hit this place with a group of 10 last night. They were able to sit us quickly, the waitress was friendly, kept our drinks full and split the check amongst 4 payers. The food was really good, I had the catfish and my wife had the steak salad. We were both impressed. Hope to be back when we're in the area again.

Pricing was great! Food was excellent. I got a Reuben and it had ample meat! Close to the interstate, so a quick drive if you are on a trip. Wait staff was so friendly - lots of southern charm. 😁

Good menu with homes style type meals. I ordered the hamburger steak and was really impressed with the portion size. The mushroom gravy was also tip notch! Service was also very good, meaning our waitress was attentive, remembered our order, and kept us up to date on progress while we waited. The place was a little busy, so food took a little bit to come out, but was definitely not an unreasonable amount of time.
