If the owners are wondering why the place is empty it’s because of $60 dollar parking fee, don’t tell me about the lame app I have to download to park for free, nobody got time for that. I will pay the $60 dollars on top of leaving about $100 at your establishment but will never come back. Good luck with that.

Update in 2024:
To Management: Could you please consider switching from plastic silverware and paper plates? The current paper plates are too small for your large pastries, and the plastic fork and knife are not even comfortable to use, and I’d like to see a café of this size use reusable silverware/dish that can be easily washed, as it’s better for the environment and better for the pictures for the customers to post on social media as well!

2022: I highly recommend trying the Coffee Swiss cake at this place, as it is a must-try. Along with that, their other baked goods are also good, and their mocha drink is really delicious. The cafe is located in a luxurious apartment building on either the first or second floor, depending on the entrance. With enough seating for at least 20 customers, it's definitely worth a visit.

My wife brought home a baguette today, and we found out that it was old and stale. Based on how dry and crumbly it was, it must have been about 2 days old by the time it was sold. This is ridiculous and totally unacceptable. No self-respecting baker would do this. Bread needs to be fresh. If it doesn't sell the day it was baked, you donate it, recycle it, compost it, or maybe give it away or sell it for 1/2 price near the end of the day. You don't just pretend that it's still sellable and sell it to unsuspecting customers. If you don't understand this, you know nothing about bread and are a disgrace to the profession.

I've had the unfortunate experience of ordering a custom cake from this French bakery two years in a row, well in advance, only to find out they forgot to prepare it both times. This left us with no choice but to scramble for a ready-made cake on the day of the celebration. I'm disheartened to say there won't be a third time. I feel compelled to advise my acquaintances against relying on this bakery for their special occasions. The lack of professionalism and forgetfulness displayed here is not what you would expect, and it almost feels like a disregard for the customer. It's a disappointing representation of what one would expect from such an establishment in America.

"2 days old cake from a freezer instead of fresh one"

I ordered a cake here for my son's birthday, but they messed up with they date and made it 2 days earlier (Thursday instead of Saturday, please see the attachment). I was told they are going to remake the cake for Saturday and I'll get a fresh new cake and not the Thursday's cake from the freezer.
But that wasn't true, I got a cake from the freezer. Since it was a strawberry cake, it's very easy to feel when the strawberry has just came from a freezer (it looks and tastes like a piece of ice) and it was really hard to cut the cake.

I've been coming here for a couple of years now. However, I’m the last 6 months quality of food, adequacy of staff and common sense went downhill in this place, dramatically. I’ve got undercooked food, poorly made coffee and only half of the time they’d get orders right. It feels like that now it’s ran by high school kids.

The baked goods are over the top amazing.  But this morning, when I asked my server if she could cut my 4 items in half as we planned to eat in the car, and there was no one at the counter at the time, she replied, I will do it, but it’s the last time. So I then told her that this would be the last time I frequent this establishment.

Pastries are below average for French style, but the baguettes are fascinatingly bad. I’ve experienced baguettes of similarly low quality, but not in many years. The crust is extremely brittle and fragments into innumerable pieces as soon as a knife gets within an inch of it. These shards of bread matter taste like corn flakes. The crumb is light, spongy and airy, which is fine for a cake, but pretty terrible for a baguette. It should have pockets, but be chewy and flavorful. This baguette is neither.

I tried to find creative ways to use or resuscitate it, but to no avail. Toasting it just made it harder and it doesn’t have the density to hold up for making French toast or bread pudding. Like I said, fascinatingly bad.

On the plus side the staff is was very friendly and pleasant. Feel a little bad leaving this kind of review, but people must be warned, about the baguettes anyway.

By the way if you are looking for solid baguettes get over to *gasp* Costco. Yes my friends. It may be a hike to get over to Kirkland and it may belie your better judgement to go to a warehouse chain for French delights, but Costco is putting out some of the best baguettes in the area. I kid you not. They make you get two at a time. This is actually good. You will thank them.

Review №68

Food was mediocre, especially for the high price. The service, however was excellent and the decor / environment was very nice.

That being said, the side salad was literally just a handful of mixed lettuce and a single cherry tomato. The crêpe was bland and crispy. The pastry was 90% dough and barely a teaspoon of filling. The panini was decent, but I have made better paninis myself. If the meal was 5 to 7 dollars cheaper, I wouldn’t have as many complaints, but to spend almost $20 each on a meal is absurd for what we got.

I love this bakery! It’s “conveniently” close to where I work, so I frequent it often, especially when I can smell the aroma of their fresh baked goods come through. 😶‍🌫️ They have delicious pastries that always hit the sweet spot, amazing paninis and really good, reasonably priced coffee/tea. My top 3 favorite things on their menu is the parma prosciutto & swiss panini, jalapeño cream cheese croissant and the Nutella twist pastry. The service is always on point. Ika, Jaylyn and the owner Kim are so friendly and sweet! In addition, they have a no obligation rewards program that gives you points for every purchase, which in return gives you money back to use on future purchases. It’s definitely a bonus that has me going back especially when there is nothing to lose. Bon Appétit!

The lavender tea latte doesn't taste nor smell like lavender and it was bland. They deliver your food but not your drink, and the barista only says the name of the drink once after it's out on the counter so if you didn't hear it the first time- uh oh. You also don't exactly know if you're getting your drink or someone else's drink they just sit there no label no nothing. Their system/process can use some improvement so the barista won't have to answer questions like "where my _____ ?"

While I was waiting in the line, I had to experience how the French Bakery treats their customers. A lady found hair in the cake she was eating. She ate more than half of the cake. she was humiliated when she went and told about the hair she found to the barista. The barista claims that the hair could’ve fallen while she was eating. Posting this to let the viewers decide on how the customer should have been treated. My view was that the lady should’ve gotten a new cake. I was standing there in the line and could feel that the lady was not wrong. And she was getting mean responses. I took a video of it and unfortunately I was not able to post the video.

Croissants were delicious, also tried the Sophie crepe and was not impressed. Good atmosphere and while it looks like any other bakery it still had an attractive feel to it. Would recommend but I am still in search of the best french bakery in the Seattle area.

Over rated, over priced, and nasty food. $10 for a crepe with nothing but nutella? Absurd! It's an insult for them to name themselves the French bakery. Real French bakeries put tremendous effort into perfecting their pastries and food - this place is nasty. I can't believe it has such good reviews.

I went to The French Bakery expecting to be disappointed. After all, this is Bellevue, not France.

When I walked in, I was greeted with an array of baked goods, multiple vegetarian options on the menu, and cheery staff members. I ordered the Roasted Veggie & Havarti sandwich, and it arrived pretty quickly.

I thought the food was pretty tasty. The salad was a little overdressed, although I could have just asked for dressing on the side.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to The French Bakery and would go again. It didn't seem particularly French or personal (it had more of a chain feel), it was good for what it was.

It is located inside a large glass building, bright with loads of natural light. The bakery was on the first floor, easy to find with tables right by the escalator. They did have some real outdoor seating also.

We got Café Au Lait , Slice of Coffee Swiss, and Twice Baked Chocolate Almond Croissant. They were both nice little dessert, not the best I've had, but it was a good way to start the morning. We also had one real dish, savory “Paul” crepe. The filling was almost like chicken salad or tuna salad, only with salmon. This version was interesting, and quite tasty!

We enjoyed the breakfast here, so we decided to go back again for another breakfast. This time, we got Marionberry Cream Cheese Croissant, and Slice of Blueberry Cream Cake. The croissant was just a-ok, but the cake was much better than I thought it would be. The crepe of choice for this day was Pierre. It was more simple, but comforting, tasty, and filling.

The staffs were not overly friendly, but polite. The coffee was good and the food was tasty. The portion of savory crepe was pretty big, enough to share. Affordable and relaxing atmosphere.

한국사람 입맛에 맞는 빵집. 생각보다 달지 않아서 좋았음. 종류는 많지 않은 듯.

I frequent this French Bakery because I live in the building it's in and the Starbucks a block away is too far of a walk in my slippies at 7 am. I almost never get food here, but the coffee is pretty good. They put it in ceramic mugs unless you specify it's to go, which isn't necessarily a bad thing unless like me you're spoiled to Starbucks' "to-go unless otherwise specified" m.o.

No Wifi. If you're trying to get work done, go somewhere else. There's a Starbucks about 300 feet away on NE 8th.

I love The French bakery and pay visits here since they opened at Elements. We were also buying their tasty bread and croissants in my daughter's French school. However, today when I ate in, I was given completely dirty and sticky cutlery. There were remnants of food stuck on my fork and, obviously, it was not properly washed. When I brought up this issue at the cash register, they were very apologetic and replaced my fork and knife with different set which was also sticky, but at least looked clean. It took a while to get me a new set, so I suspect they were manually cleaning them. I find It is very low standards and health hazard due to a risk of passing communicable diseases.
I was sure that in a public place everything should be thoroughly cleaned with high temperature water and proper cleaning solution
Never had such an experience in a place like that. Will not go back till they raise their cleaning standards and teach the personnel that dirty stuff should not be served.
Coffee viennese tasted really good but was warm rather than hot. Alice crepe was disappointing as the dough was thick and tasteless, like made from the box. Variety of offered products was awesome as usual, and hopefully, tasty. Added one star for that.

Very rude service. My husband ordered a coffee and wasn’t sure if they called his name, so he asked the server, but the server yelled “no” right in his face and then grabbed the cup back from his hand. I didn’t know what made the server so angry! We would never go in again.

AWFUL service. It was half empty on a Sunday morning and it took half an hour to get 2 simple orders to go. They also messed up both orders and were rude in general. The whole experience was a joke.
At least the food was good, but still not worth going back to this location.
