Really enjoyed how clean and presentable this place was! They had a large seating area and I got seated right away with my friend on a Saturday night.

I had the beef tendon noodle soup and my friend said the food was okay, “could be better”. We also ordered a side of popcorn fried chicken to share and it was decent.

I ordered Combo 1, pig feet to-go, and when I received my meal, the soup was missing, and there were no utensils included. The food was also really greasy, which I found disappointing. In my opinion, the food is overpriced for the quality you get.

Clean space but food and service were disappointing. Got the tempeh burger, cabbage and vegetarian meat sauce noodles. The tempeh burger was good but other two items were very bland. In fact, the noodle dish particularly was too hard to eat so we left it all. We told our server we really didn’t like it and they didn’t offer any alternatives or refunds - nothing to placate us and charged us for the entirety. Didn’t feel heard, won’t go there again.

Was pleasantly surprised when we came in for a quick lunch the other day. The fried chicken was tender and juicy, pork rice was perfectly seasoned, the spicy pig ears were great too. The last time I visited was a year ago, but this recent meal was a massive improvement.

This was just okay for me. I’m surprised we do not get additional condiments in case we needed to enhance the flavor to our liking. The soup was a bit bland to me-and the beef lacked flavor. It was super tender-along with the tendons. The chicken and rice were okay, but was oilier than expected . It’s not bad, but I would prefer more tasty. We did order bingsu and that was really good.

Braised pork rice was delicious. Fried chicken leg was juicy and tasty. But the beef noodle soup was lacking some flavor, it tastes watered down. The side dishes, especially the pork ear were good and overall good portion!

The service at this restaurant was much better years ago. Nowadays we go only because of the food - it is delicious and authentic, but the people who run this place now don’t voluntarily serve you water. They try to give as little as possible, including openly pressuring you to bring your own kids utensils next time because they don’t want to offer plastic forks or spoons for kids. They didn’t want to bring my son water just because they saw us bring his water bottle. Brace yourself for some rude service when you come here.

Food is good but the attitude of the waiters/ waitress need to change. I understand your business has enough customers and do not need more. Wouldn’t you guys be kinder to the people paying to sustain your business? Anyways me and my wife and two other friends was here to have lunch and I brought a small birthday cake just to surprise my wife. We bought over 80 bucks worth of meals dining in. One of the female staff walked over while cleaning up our plates (didn’t even ask if we are done) then gave me a stern look, and said “no outside food, and walk away. Well a typical American diner or any other establishment would have first greeted my wife and wish her happy birthday or so, hell, they would even give discounts). But no not here at Monga, you essentially look down on Customers and think lowly of them. This type of behavior / business ruins people’s mood. I do not recommend going here to this restaurant if you want good customer service! If you don’t care about customer service, go ahead and give them your hard earned dollars. Food is also subpar, cooks looked like they do not enjoy their work (understand it’s food service, I’ve been there done that for 10 years but never gave customers ill-treatment like them, always treated them great coz u never know what is going on with their day). I’ve had better Taiwanese food and customer service at other establishments. I gave tip anyways even though feeling disappointed with the staff’s behavior. Oh also they do not allow your party to be seated if even one person is not present (never heard of this being practiced in America).

The service here is terrible, and the food is just okay. Once you experience such bad service, you lose any mood to taste the food. The waitress kept ignoring our requests to order. We ended up waiting at the table for 20 minutes. The restaurant is only half full. She even took the order from a few group that arrived after us. We then realized that the waitress was ignoring us on purpose. Since we had kids with us, we asked about the table when it was ready (because we could see it was ready). She held a grudge and purposely treated us poorly afterward. I don't know why she provides such bad service and is still able to work at the restaurant. Anyway, don't go there unless you want very oily food and really bad service. They charge you 20% for group service fee and slowest and bad attitude service of all.

I would rate their service at zero. If you come with a large party, you'll be automatically charged a 20% service fee but receive the least attention. Customers who arrived after us were served first, while the staff repeatedly ignored our requests and told us to keep waiting. After sitting for 20 minutes without any service, we ended up leaving the restaurant.

I asked for little spice 1 star and got a super spicy noodle dish, my friend who asked for spicy (3 stars) got none. They mixed up my order and made me believe it was my fault, couldn't really enjoy my meal bc of the spice!

The waitress tried adding soup I said it was still too spicy bc I recently had a tooth surgery and she said theres no solution, even when it was their fault

her argument is that we took a single bite already, that she couldn't take it back

MonGa Cafe, a hidden gem awaits adventurous eaters. This unassuming Taiwanese restaurant offers a symphony of classic flavors, sure to leave you satisfied.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the Zhu Jiao Fan (slow cooked pig feet over rice). The melt-in-your-mouth pork is bathed in a luxuriously rich sauce, boasting a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Each bite is a perfect marriage of textures - the tender meat contrasting beautifully with the fluffy white rice.

For noodle enthusiasts, the Niu Rou Mian (beef noodle soup) is a must-try. The thick, springy noodles stand up perfectly to the deeply flavorful broth, simmered for hours with succulent chunks of beef. Be sure to ask for extra chili sauce on the side for an added kick.

While the portions are generous, the menu felt a bit limited. Those seeking a wider variety of Taiwanese staples might find themselves wanting a bit more. And the limited parking spaces might also turn some people away during weekends.

We were being told they close at 3pm, seated at 2:30, ordered our food at 2:33 (their last order time was 2:45). The waitress tried to avoid serving water to us just because we ordered noodle in soup.

At 2:35, my friend stood up from the table and wanted to order an additional item on his way to the washroom, the waitress insisted he needs to sit down before she's willing take down the order...and it happened the dish we wanted to try was sold out so we decided to share one entree; the waitress acknowledged that but still asked my friend if he's going to eat all at and took away his pair of chopsticks ...lol

Food wise, the fried chicken noodle soup tasted quite bland, noodle seemed undercooked and fried chicken was not crispy at all.

We ended up tipping them $0.01 for the extremely poor service. Instead of trying to find out what went wrong, the waitress told us to never come back, Monga does not welcome us. I pointed out about her poor attitude from this entire dine in experience, she just walked away really angry with a pissed off face.

We have never being treated like this in any restaurant in Seattle. I would rate this restaurant 0 star of there is such option.

We argued with the waitress and told her we wanted to talk to the restaurant owner about the over tipping charge. The waitress said she is the owner. No one was reminded of the 20% tip charges when we went to this place, except a line on the menu. At last, the owner said she will not welcome us to her place anymore though we just paid 15% tip for lunch time. She said this angrily and arrogantly. What a service.

A clean, spacious, and modern feeling restaurant serving Taiwanese dishes. If you enjoy lighter foods that don't make you feel like you've eaten a container of salt or sugar, then this is for you. They also have a big selection of teas which are full of flavor.

For dinner we had:
Peach oolong fresh milk tea
Jasmine green tea
Trio appetizers: pickled cucumber, beancurd, seaweed salad
Pork la-ru with noodles
Soup noodles with pork chops (this was our favorite dish because the pork chops were tender on the inside and crispy on the outside)
Hot grass jelly for dessert (a unique dessert filled with taro and lotus seeds inside a bath of jelly).

It was roughly $80 for the meal.

[Not kid and family friendly] This place is not friendly to toddlers and family with kids: 1. there is no family restroom, changing table is within a public shared restroom, super unfriendly to toddlers; 2. there is a Taiwanese waitress who is super unfriendly and bossy.

We’ve been here several times but it was always unpleasant when we had that waitress. We were easy going people so we didn’t care much, just give her less tips. But today she went across the boundary. We decided to never go there and give our honest 1-star review here. Here is what we experienced: when we took our 1-year baby in, she brought in a booster. We wanted a high chair. She claimed that “a booster is good based on my experience”. We insisted then she gave up, and her semi-smiley face also turned cold. She always tried to control and influence other than just serve. During the meal, we went to the front desk asking for extra spoons etc while the baby dropped it, she asked us to return to the table waiting instead of giving it right to us. She just wanted people to follow her order. Then I requested the check and a box to go, she went directly to the neighboring table and gave us a “stop” unfriendly gesture. After the meal, our baby pooped so we went to use the restroom. There is no family restroom. I was holding my baby at the door while my wife was preparing the cleaning stuff inside. This waitress again came to ask me not blocking the way TWICE while ironically no one is outside waiting, TWICE! I was hoping she would come front to help, instead, she came to show her bossy order. I was super annoyed asking who is her manager. She said she is the boss so stop me to escalate. If that’s true, no wonder this restaurant has such unfriendly culture. She just has no empathy, not honest, and is a bossy person. I’m not recommending any family with kids visits here, if you want to be served instead of being bossed around by its boss…

We have been to this amazing places many times after moving to Washington state. We were never let down by its food and drink. It’s not an easy thing for a restaurant to constantly keep high quality for everything they provide. And among all the dishes I have tried out, the pork trotters are so perfect. Usually if you can achieve either cleaning it up very well or cook it to be super tender, then it’ll be considered as okay for the price you pay here. Well Monga Cafe apparently doesn’t agree with it, it has to achieve the both at same time, which brings so much satisfaction to its customers like me who likes the pork trotters.

My friends and I came in because we liked that the name sounded like “manga” (haha) and the other restaurants in the area were either closed or packed.
So glad we made the decision to pop in because we had a great time here! Our waitress was so sweet and funny, she reminded me of my aunties from Hong Kong~
The food was also BOMB and came out so fast!!! We were shocked. Prices were good too for the area, I think we all spent ~20-30 for dinner and a soda.
There was also plenty of seating but a quiet cafe like ambiance which was really nice; I tend to get headaches in really loud venues so the quiet was much appreciated.

Pros:
• friendly service
• food comes out fast
• decent prices
• lots of seating
• quiet cafe like ambiance

Cons:
• parking lot fills up fast during dinner times and on weekends; if you want to park without stress I’d avoid these times, but this goes for every restaurant in this square

Excellent and authentic tasting Taiwanese food. The lu rou and pig trotters are great, as are all the noodle dishes. Good range of vegetarian options too. Fast service in restaurant even when it is busy. Quality has been consistent over the years and the prices have stayed reasonable. To go orders are also packed and presented well.

Great tasting food, not the biggest portions but lots of selection. Very clean setting and lots of parking in a busy plaza.

Fantastic, subtle, and delicious food. I had the beef tendon soup, and the tendon was perfectly cooked. The mustard greens were just slightly sweet and delightfully sour. I asked for the soup 4 star spicy, but I think i would rank it at a 2 on the spice scale. Otherwise perfect and tasty. Table service was prompt, warm, and friendly. Music was a hair loud. Prices were very reasonable. Would highly recommend.

台式口味相當道地;滷肉飯和小菜味道不錯,可惜牛肉麵的麵條和湯底都很普通。

We ordered beef noodle, fried pork rice and fried chicken with noodle. Food is 3 stars, not authentic and taste like low quality chain restaurants. The server yelled at my 6-year-old when she was taking our order.....one time is because my boy laid down on his bench, the other time is because his leg is kicking the bench box and making a little noise.... So weird, because my kid did not bother anybody and she just yelled at him without even telling the parents who's sitting with him.....Definitely NOT going back!!!

No complaints. I got popcorn chicken which was tasty and the triangle fried tofu which was okay. I expected the tofu to be actually battered & fried, but it was my first time ordering it so I won't put that against them. Prices were fair but 20% automatic service charge (group of 6) seemed high, usually default is 18%.

I love how unique Taiwanese food is. The flavors here reminded me a lot of the authentic cuisine I’ve had in Taiwan a few years ago.

The chili wontons were not authentic whatsoever, but tasty nonetheless. Not sure where the inspiration came for such a peanut based curry, it reminded me of Thai and Malaysian cuisine.

The standouts were the popcorn chicken and the deep fried pork cutlet, both of which had the classic salt and pepper seasoning.

I like the buns as well with pork and peanuts.

Service was a bit slow, considering the restaurant was not busy.

2 toddlers and 4 adults. Mandatory 20% tips added with mediocre service. Says washrooms will be close for cleaning BEFORE the guests leave when there's about 5 tables left?!

This was our first time eating Taiwanese food—Li gave awesome recommendations and gave us great service! We will definitely return!
We got combo 1 & 2–especially loved the beef soup and pork dish. For sides, our favorites were the pickled cucumbers, potatoes and the peanuts. Our daughter had the popcorn chicken which was delicious as well! Thanks for the great experience!

Beef noodle soup was incredibly bland despite its looks. I don't understand how it's possible to make the dish so devoid of flavor. Like hot water with food coloring. Chili oil had no kick to it either. Would not recommend.
